I'm very practical when it comes to shopping. Once, my sister mentioned to me that her friend reads my blog because the things I feature are always relatable and budget-friendly. Sure, I do love fancy stuff, but if there's a more affordable alternative that works just as well (or sometimes even better), it won't hurt to Switch & Save.
When it
comes to shopping, do you go for quality or savings? Some might assume
that quality items only come at a premium price, while those that go for
savings may think that their money can only take them so far. I've been
shopping in Watsons for years so I know that neither one is actually
right. You can have both when you Switch & Save with Watsons.
Watsons has been running their Switch & Save campaign for several years now. Their effort with showing us how we can save up to 80% off on our personal care items while still getting excellent quality with Watsons brand have convinced everyday shoppers to high-profile endorsers such as Iya Villania, Christian Bautista, Tessa Prieto Valdez, and Patty Laurel! (Even Tessa who is a socialite loves their Buy 1 Take 1 promo!)
Even with such unbelievably great savings, some still remained unconvinced that Watsons products could be as good as the leading brand. To settle the question once and for all, the Watsons team decided to put it to the test - The Switch Test! They set up unbranded booths in major cities around the country, and Watsons put its
products up against the best of the best - the category leaders. Without
showing or telling them what brands were involved, the Switch Test
mediator had each customer try out two products - Watsons and the leader.
They were asked to hold them, examine them, test and compare them, and
eventually to choose the one they would buy.
Just last Tuesday, I was able to try the Switch Test myself, as they've set up unbranded booths at Makati Shangri-La, where we were to choose which one we liked better. No right or wrong answers here.
I chose Tissue A because it was just as soft as Tissue B, but stronger. It turned out to be a Watsons brand!
Between the body scrubs, I chose Brand B because it smelled slightly milkier than Brand A. Texture-wise, they're almost the same! I found out that I chose the leading brand, but if I were to switch to Watsons, I would save up to 60%! For something that works just on the surface of the skin and would very likely just give me the same result of silky soft skin, I'd gladly make the switch!
Note to self: When I use up my body scrub at home, I'll try the Watsons Milk & Salt Scrub Whitening (Patty's favorite!) when I chance upon it on a Buy 1 Take 1 deal.
As for the charcoal toothbrushes, Toothbrush B looked like the one we have at home, hence, it's what I chose out of familiarity. It was the leading brand, however a little voice whispered to my ear, "Maybe you'd like to try something new. Toothbrush B has soft bristles, but may be too soft for effective cleaning." (Nah, that was just my mind talking to itself, but I did find that I exerted more effort when I use a soft toothbrush.) Toothbrush A had slim but firmer bristles, and I can buy 3 of these for the price of 1 Toothbrush B so I'd gladly give it a try.
The team tested tissue, body scrubs, hair irons, lotion, and toothbrushes, and in the end less than 20% of shoppers chose the leading brand over Watsons quality. But when informed of the sizeable savings afterward, even they were easily swayed to switch. Besides, what is there to think about when you're getting up to 80% savings on body lotion, 60% on body scrub, and 55% on hair iron?
Hi Andy! :D
I'll let the Switch Test speak for itself. The results are very clear - 8 out of 10 shoppers
prefer Watsons quality, not to mention the Watsons price! We don't always have to pay more for a good quality product that works just as nicely or even better than its more expensive counterpart. So to restate the age-old question about quality or savings - take both! Switch to Watsons and SAVE! :D
My forever favorite would be the Watsons Cream Body Wash when it's at Buy 1 Take 1, because I pay only P229 for 2 liters of the good stuff that will last me for months! How about you? What's your favorite Watson's deal?
