Snow Crystal White Tomato

Confession: I am not a fan of sunscreen lotions since I find them too sticky for my daily commute. The most I'd use is just sunscreen for my face underneath my makeup, but that's it. That's the reason why I have uneven skin tone on my arms and feet. I do use my umbrella though when I can't take the heat. 😓

What if I tell you that we now have a natural sunscreen in the form of a pill? Would you take it?

I would, but not without doing my research first!

Snow Crystal White Tomato is a new innovation from Vida Nutriscience (the makers of Snow Skin Whitening and SnowCaps L-Glutathione Capsule). The products sent to me to try were the Snow Crystal White Tomato Skin Whitening Soap, Snow Pore Minimizing Toner (which I have reviewed before), and the main star - Snow Crystal White Tomato (Food Supplement). I've been using these products consistently for 2 weeks as of press time.

Snow Crystal White Tomato Skin Whitening Soap (P299)

Snow Crystal White Tomato Skin Whitening Soap is probably one of the priciest whitening soap I've tried. It costs P299 per 135g bar. However, just one look at its ingredients list and the cost is immediately justified. First four items on the list are glycerin, salicylic acid (much to my surprise because this one's my skin's best friend in keeping breakouts at bay), aloe vera extract, and niacinamide (for skin brightening). The other ingredients all work together to nourish and brighten the skin, and this one's no joke at all because results can be seen in as early as 1-3 days. As in, immediate brightening! My thighs are darker than my sisters', and after using this soap and without putting any lotion, mas maputi na agad ako. She immediately asked me what magic I used. Haha!

What I also like about this soap is that doesn't contain unnecessary colorants or fragrance. It actually smells like nothing. LOL. It creates a creamy lather on my skin. It rinses of squeaky clean, but it doesn't leave my skin parched. You can leave it on for 3 minutes before rinsing, but I ain't got time for that. I just wash and go. I only use this on my body, so I can't vouch if it may or may not sting on the face (which is more sensitive). Since it has salicylic acid, it can help clear out bacne, too. One bar will probably last me 1 month.

Snow Pore Minimizing Toner (P149/100ml)

Snow Pore Minimizing Toner is my current favorite toner. It smells strongly of alcohol so those with dry skin might not like it, but it works nicely on my oily skin. This one feels like ice water on my face, even if it has just been sitting in my room (and not in the refrigerator). It takes away ALL the leftover dirt and makeup on my skin so I've had less breakouts since I started using this last September. My face always feels fresh with this one! I will repurchase once I run out. (You can read a more detailed review of this toner here.)

Snow Crystal White Tomato (P2,985 per 30 capsules)

Snow Crystal White Tomato is a natural sunscreen that gives our body natural protection from UV rays. How it works is actually interesting. You take it in a pill form and it works from the inside to prevent your skin from burning from the ever present UV rays.

Snow Crystal White Tomato is a combination of PhytoflORAL (800mg), L-Glutathione (500mg), and Bioperine.
  • PhytoflORAL or Colorless Carotenoids (800mg) provides the body with a natural protective shield against UV rays. Ever heard of the skincare advice where you drink carrot juice to make your skin glow? Beta carotene is a pigmented chemical, and excessive intake may cause a yellow or orange discoloration on the skin making you look tan. What's nice about colorless carotenoids is how it provides natural sunscreen, inhibit melanin synthesis to whiten the skin, reduce the melanin in dark scars and spots, and act as an antioxidant.
  • Kohjin L-Glutathione (500mg) is the main ingredient in SnowCaps. Glutathione is proven safe and its main function is detoxifying the liver, and its side effect is skin whitening. I have written about why I take glutathione despite having fair skin to begin with here.
  • Bioperine (Powdered Black Pepper Extract- Pipernigrum L) increases the body absorption of the two main ingredients (PhytoflORAL and L-Glutathione) for faster results.

The recommended dose for Snow Crystal White Tomato is just 1 tablet per day. It's a huge tablet and it has a strong smell, but I'd still take it since that's only a minor tradeoff for the many benefits that it can give my skin. Compared to the other brand (containing only PhytoflORAL) priced at P5,900 to P6,900, Snow Crystal White Tomato (containing both PhytoflORAL and Kohjin L-Glutathione) is made more affordable at P2,985 per 30 capsules.

Snow Crystal White Tomato products are available at all leading drugstores nationwide starting July 2017.

Cathy Doll Sculpting Highlighting & Shading Cushion

Korean-inspired Thai beauty brand Cathy Doll always wins with cute packaging, and one product that amazes me is their Sculpting Highlighting & Shading Cushion. I think we're all familiar with BB cushions, but it's rare come to by a cushion that contours and highlights the face. It's a novel concept and convenient beauty product to have in your kit.

Cathy Doll Sculpting Highlighting & Shading Cushion SPF 50 PA+++
  • Highlighter to emphasize your features
  • Shading to add three-dimensional appearance
  • Matte finish, grease-free
  • Leaves no rough patches
  • Sweat-proof, water-proof, and sun protection

It comes in the classic cushion compact packaging, but I don't think they sell refills for this. It's available in 2 shades: 01 Fair Skin and 02 Honey Skin.

01 Fair Skin | 02 Honey Skin

At first glance, I thought it would be better if the highlighter were bigger, but the way it's shaped is functional. You just press the puff on the cushion, and stamp/pat it on your face and blend away. Highlighter is placed on top of your cheekbones, so the placement is just right.

01 Fair Skin | 02 Honey Skin

This is how the shades look like when blended out.

This product may seem intimidating for contour newbies, but the learning curve is quick with this one, and it's actually easy to use. It also lasts long and doesn't rub off on my oily skin. Do give it a try! 😉

Kushikatsu Daruma now serves RAMEN!

Kushikatsu Daruma, famous for mouthwatering, deep-fried sticks of anything from meat to vegetables to cheese, is expanding their sumptuous daily offerings with the introduction of four delicious new ramen selections everyone is bound get hooked on.

Gotta love the new additions to their menu. Last time was their lunch sets which are super sulit but you can only have them during weekdays. Now, it's ramen which we can enjoy anytime! 😍 These classic noodle favorites are the perfect complement to their addictively satisfying kushikatsu.

First up is the Tantanmien Ramen (P365). A fragrant sesame and peanut paste broth with chili bean paste bathes the bouncy ramen noodles and is topped with succulent minced pork and wood ear mushrooms. This rich-bodied bowl is herby and aromatic, with just the right hint of spice that warms the soul!

Next is an all-time favorite, the Tonkotsu Ramen (P320). Traditionally made with a rich, pork bone broth, Daruma's version is made with even more lush stock incorporated with savory bonito that leaves a distinctively cleaner finish. Toothsome noodles are topped with a generous serving of the most tender grilled pork belly kakuni, always a crowd pleaser.

The Miso Ramen (P365), meanwhile, is a savory-sweet delight. The decadent miso-infused broth is mixed with their house noodles, sprinkled with fresh corn and lovingly crowned with a melty knob of butter. This Hokkaido-style ramen balances out well with the creaminess of the butter and the subtle sweetness of the miso blend that leaves you satisfied.

If you're a big garlic fan, then the Ninniku Ramen (P365) is for you. Literally meaning garlic, the Ninniku does not hold back in punch and aroma. Laden with black garlic oil, raw garlic, as well as sweet garlic confit, this unique and flavor-packed dish is delectable and incredibly tasty. Served with grilled pork belly kakuni, this bowl of deliciousness really hits the spot.

What's Inside the CBTL 2018 Giving Journal

Exactly a year ago, I wrote about the 2017 Giving Journal which I've been using everyday. This year is a good turning point in my life because I learned to actually set aside part of what I earn each month to give, because I finally understand that I'm just a steward of the money that God allows me to have through my work. 🙏 As the holiday cheer begins to fill the air and traditions come alive, let's not forget the true message of Christmas.

But of course, ber months also means planner season. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has just launched their 2018 Giving Journal - their 10th edition! To celebrate their journey of giving through the years, the 2018 journal goes by the theme LEAVE A LEGACY.

The CBTL 2018 Giving Journals come in 4 designs - green, grey, and blue (with designs that reflect CBTL's premium teas and coffees), and a special one with a customizable cover you can color/paint to make it truly your own.

For me, the DIY one is the most beautiful design CBTL came up with. White with gold accents = classy! It's already lovely on its pristine state.

Leave a Legacy

Gratitude Jar

What's inside is also super nice. I'm loving the 2018 journal's neater, more colorful look, and the messages on each page are definitely inspiring. An excerpt from one of the chapter article goes:

"The question for everyone alive today is this: What kind of legacy will you leave behind? Will you leave a beautiful legacy for others to enjoy? Or will you leave a legacy of debt, pain, poverty, and sin that the people who come after you will have to pay for?"

It's deep, profound, and it makes you think.

And of course, we have our monthly treats from CBTL - coupons! 💜

Coupons from CBTL & Wingstop 😋

Each month has a theme:
  • January - Begin with the end in mind
  • February - Be rooted in purpose
  • March - Be excellent in every way
  • April - Radiate hope
  • May - Build real connections and have true compassion
  • June - It's not what you have, it's what you do with what you have
  • July - Be a blessing where you are
  • August - Empower a nation through holistic education
  • September - Human dignity starts at home
  • October - Be a source of nourishment
  • November - Light up the world
  • December - Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom

👍

Stickers 😍

It's sparkly! 🌟

During the launch, I got to DIY my makeshift cover. I'm admittedly not creative when it comes to artworks, but these colors I chose have a deeper meaning, and they serve as a reminder on who I truly serve. 👆

My planner looks like it was colored by a kid but what it represents is exactly the reason for the season. I used to do gospel bracelets during children's outreach, hence the colors. Black represents sin, red represents the blood of Jesus Christ, blue represents faith, white represents purity since we are made clean with His blood, green means growing as Christians, and yellow represents heaven.

What's noteworthy with the 2018 Giving Journal is how it's rooted to Christian faith. The chapter articles and weekly pages are filled with inspiring stories, quotes, and Bible verses. 💖

Thank you for appreciating my work, CBTL! 💜

You only need 12 stamps to earn your very own 2018 Giving Journal, which you can claim at any CBTL store from October 21, 2017 to January 14, 2018 (or until 60 days after). You also get to do good since participating in this holiday tradition means supporting Real Life Foundation in providing education for underprivileged Filipino youth. So far, Real Life Foundation has provided over 300 scholars with university degrees, and over 40 graduates were directly supported by CBTL and YOU (if you've gotten your own Giving Journal before). 👌 Let's help grow this number, shall we?

#ThaiTeaOurWay at CBTL

One of my favorite countries to visit is Thailand, and I remember hoarding tons of Nestea Thai Milk Tea sachets back home. 😍 (By the way, that one's now locally available but I can't find it anywhere! Laging out of stock. 😭)

For days when you feel like treating yourself, we have The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! They have brought the taste of Thailand to us via their NEWEST drink. It's something familiar, made new.

CBTL now has Thai Tea! 😮

My colleagues and I actually tried it ASAP when it was launched weeks ago. It's the perfect combination of robust Assam black tea and creamy condensed milk.

You can have it in 3 ways:
  • Thai Tea Latte (P150 small, P165 regular, P180 large)
  • Iced Thai Tea Latte (P165 regular, P180 large)
  • Thai Tea Ice Blended (P175 regular, P195 large) - MY FAVE! 💜

Drop by your nearest CBTL store to have a taste of #ThaiTeaOurWay. It's available for a limited time only. 👍
