Beauty By Tellie Blog Sale (Baby) Haul ♥

My friend Tellie is currently having a Giant Blog Sale, and I believe her items are flying off the shelves quickly. I'm trying to save up this month, and I'm hosting my own sale, but her deals are just too hard to resist! :D

Yes, I was the one who called in dibs on the Shu Uemura Skin Radiance Set! Mwahaha >:) Good thing I saw her post early. The next day, she informed me that there were 7 other ladies vying for this set should I change my mind. :o I was choosing between this set and the Shu Uemura Perfect Poreless Set, but my curiosity for the cleansing oil won me over. Somehow, I do regret not getting both! Haha!

Shu Uemura Skin Radiance Set
Shu Uemura Whitefficient Clear Brightening Cleansing Oil 50ml
Shu Uemura TSUYA Skin Youthful Radiance Generator 7ml
Shu Uemura UV UB Brightening Mousse SPF 30 PA+++ 30g

I still can't believe I got all these for P300. It's like the best P300 I've ever spent. *happy tears* :') I'll be testing these products one at a time, just to be sure that they don't break me out. The cleansing oil I'll keep for the meantime, since I'm only halfway through with my current makeup remover.

Just this week, I dropped by her place to get the items (since our houses were just about a 10 to 15-minute ride from each other. The long chika was fun! :D (Dawn, matutuloy na yung bonding natin sa wakas! Haha)

Tellie was also so generous! She let me raid her stash, and gave me these! :3 Pantene 3 Minute Miracle is an old favorite. The Bifesta Sebum wipes I shall reserve strictly for travel. I'm currently trying out the Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream as my day moisturizer/sunblock. The ChapStick mixstix was too cute too pass up! Excited to try the Strawberry Banana Smoothie flavor.

Gaah. So many new products to try! It's been a while. Thanks for re-inspiring me to write kikay stuff, Tellie! See you soon! :D

Love,
Helen

Current Hair Care Routine

It's been a while! I love the luxury of time I now have with this long weekend, so may I be productive! :D

Today, I'll be sharing with you my current hair care routine and capsule reviews on each product.

Finesse Clean+ Simple Hypoallergenic Shampoo (P190.00)
For normal hair

I'm forever on the hunt for sulfate-free shampoos because my wavy hair would flatten should I use regular (foamy) shampoos. I spotted Finesse inside Fisher Supermarket and got intrigued - it claims to be non-irritating and free of allergens, dyes, sulfates, parabens, and gluten. My skin (particularly my fingers) would itch when I use too fragrant products, so I gave it a try.

True enough, it comes in a clear, mild-smelling, gentle, and low-foaming formula. Because of that, I use more amount of shampoo than usual just to get it to "bubble up" and make my hair feel clean. My hair looks and feels healthier whenever I use this. However, given the gentle nature of sulfate-free shampoos, I feel that not the all dirt are washed off and product seems to buildup after weeks of consecutive use. To counter it, I use a regular shampoo once a week to clarify my hair of buildup. This variant is for normal hair, which is good enough for me. The one for dry/colored hair might leave my hair heavy due to its moisturizing properties. I like this shampoo, but I'd repurchase only if I didn't find a better alternative to it.

Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner (P59.00)
(Total Damage Care)

I got 2 tubes from Sample Room and BDJ Box. I'm now on my second one!

I remember having sworn off Pantene before because some of their conditioner variants gave me bacne during my teenage years. The 3-Minute Miracle got so much hype that even I was got too curious. Good thing I gave it a try! What I like most about is its delicious fruity floral scent - imagine fresh wild strawberry and raspberry accord enveloped in a floral creamy heart underscored with warm vanilla. Lured you in? You're welcome!

This variant contains 80% more of the key conditioning ingredients (compared to their regular conditoners), and the highest level of advanced Terminal Amino-Silicones (TAS) to smoothen 3 months of damage in just 3 minutes. It's a big claim, but it really does work. My wavy hair has less frizz, and it smells really good!

Toni&Guy Casual Forming Gel Spray

I remember visiting (and revisiting) SM department store for months just to see if Toni&Guy's Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray was in stock. I wanted so badly to get that to enhance my wavy hair and make it even wavier! (I hope I still am making sense. Haha!) A few months ago, Toni&Guy sent me a package containing this. I thought it was the salt spray since they came in a similar packaging. My initial excitement wore off, and I stashed this in my drawer for future use. When I tried it just recently, I actually liked it! :D While it doesn't give my hair more texture, it is able to hold my waves all day to a finish that I desire. The atomizer dispenses a small amount of product at a time so there's no wastage, and it dries fast and leaves my hair looking natural, not too slick, too hard or too crispy. Another use for this is slicking back my baby hairs for when I do a sleek pony.

Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo (P275.00)

Yes, we do have Dove Dry Shampoo available locally! I got this from Landmark Department Store in Trinoma, but I saw a couple of bottles also inside Watermart Supermarket in North EDSA just a while ago.

There are days that my hair doesn't get exposed very much to outside forces (such as heat and pollution). And there are also days when I come home too late, too sleepy to wash my hair. Dry shampoo is my handy solution for that for the mornings that come after. I also find my hair in a healthier, shinier, more manageable state should I not shampoo daily. A few sprays nixes oil and freshens up my hair. It feels quite cooling on my scalp, but I find the scent a bit strong. Also, I don't apply this with a very heavy hand or concentrate on one section only since it may make my black hair look grayish. Remember to massage the product through roots for it to absorb oil evenly. If this came in a smaller aerosol can, I'd repurchase since it's very handy for travel.

This is the current state of my hair. It's not dry, but I'm growing out my colored ends. Halfway there! And yes, my hair is wavy like that. I used to have it rebonded way back in high school and college. Quitting rebonding and leaving its texture alone is the best thing I did for my hair.

What's your current hair care routine?

Helen

Christmas Gifts 2013

It's time for another haul post! This time, I'll be revealing the Christmas gifts I got last month. :D

From brands:

The Body Shop Ginger Manicure Set & White Musk For Men EDT
This was the first Christmas present I received last year. It arrived as early as December 2! The Body Shop is always sweet and thoughtful! ♥

By the way, The Body Shop is having their Post Christmas Sale, where you can get their Christmas edition items at 50% off!

From Mentos Philippines

Winning this Ice-Watch from buying a bottle of Mentos gum made me extremely happy last month! I wanted the pink one, but this blue watch is also nice, versatile, and sporty!

Pantene Miracle Water & Daily Intensive Conditioner
From BDJ and Pantene (Get your own set at http://group.ilovebdj.com/)

The Pastry Company is hands down my favorite place to get my macaron fix. You have to try this! :D

Goodies from my favorite Korean brands which deserved a separate blog post. Thanks AGC family for being so generous and thoughtful! :)

BDO Keychain & Notebook
From BDO

This was a gift from my home branch at BDO Roosevelt-Pitimini. To be honest, it's my first time to appreciate gifts from banks. Haha. I don't like generic planners and umbrellas! I find the keychain cute and inspiring, reminding me of my financial goals this year. The notebook, on the other hand, doesn't have lines or anything written in it so it's perfect!

From my colleagues:

Tong Yang Garden P1,000 GC
Team Exchange Gift from Ms. Mary Ann

Chocolates
From Althan and Michelle

Chocolates
From Jaymee and Achi Bear

Hershey's Candy Cane & Cookies 'n' Creme
From Achi V and Analyn

Marshmallows, Candies, and Crispies
From Tina
As you can see, giving and receiving chocolates in the office was the trend for 2013!

Paul Frank Luggage Tag
From Jumar

Human Nature Natural Strengthening Shampoo in Cool Peppermint
From Ness

This one has rekindled my love for Human Nature's hair care products! I ordered the matching conditioner the moment I received this, and now my wavy hair is so healthy! Love!

The Body Shop Leona Lewis Lip Gloss in Deerlicious Coral
From Kyra

The Leona Lewis CD was from The Body Shop a few months back. It makes for a good backdrop for my new Leona Lewis Lip Gloss. I love this one since it's perfect for the cool weather we're having lately - no chapping, just happy and shiny lips!

Bracelet
From Robin

From my family:

Bracelet
From my aunt Dorothy

SSI Purple Gift Card
From my sisters Melissa and Vivian

I'm thinking where to spend this. I'm thinking it's either makeup from Beauty Bar or food from Marks & Spencer. (Food? Boring, I know! Haha. My sister is saving her card for Zara.)

Black Asprey NATO Nylon Watch Strap (to go with my Veloci watch)
From my sister Cindy

I love this black watch strap! Now I can officially wear my Veloci watch everyday since the black strap goes with everything.

Black Skater Skirt
From my sister Ann

I like that I can wear this skirt to the office or at the mall. Skater skirts are so cute, I want them in all colors!

From my sweetest friend:

Marks & Spencer Blissful Strawberry Moisturising Hand & Body Lotion
From La Reina

I wasn't really expecting to receive a lot this year (someone's getting old and losing the warm and fuzzy Christmas spirit), maybe just from my sisters (since that's what we always do during Christmas), but I feel truly blessed. Thank you to everyone who remembered me! :D

I hope you all got to enjoy and make the most out of the holidays! Looking forward to the new year. :)

Love,
Helen

Pink Things That Made Me Smile

Pink. It officially became my favorite color when I was 14, when I saw my classmate's bright pink file case and fell in love with the color. XD I just wanted to share with you cute little pink stuff that brightened up my week and made it extra special.

1. Princess Pink Cupcake

My sister brought this home last Sunday when she attended a children's party. It came in a dainty pink box, too. Not only does it look so pretty, it is delicious, too. The cake is moist and the icing is not too sweet; I was able to finish this without scraping off the icing. I don't personally know the one who made this cake, but since it had a sticker on the box, I'll share her contact details (in case you're looking for someone who will make cakes for a party).

2. Pantene Hair Fall Control Shampoo and Conditioner

I got these samples from Cosmopolitan September 2011. I don't use Pantene much because it used to be so harsh on my hair and lots of my hair would fall whenever I used it, but not with this one. Of course it had to leave my hair intact, since it's a hair fall control line. Haha. Now I also want to try their Nature Care line.

3. Maybelline Water Shine 3D Collagen in 402 (Discontinued!)

I found this lying around my drawer when I was fixing my stuff! It's still sealed but it's now discontinued; I wasted no time and used it ASAP. This one looks so natural on my lips, and I am not used to wearing natural colored lippies. It's also a perfect partner for smokey eyes. I don't know if I'll still write a detailed review on this since it's already phased out here in the Philippines, but this was the lipstick I used here.

4. Pink Fibrella Umbrella (F308)

Since last month, my sister was asking me what birthday gift I wanted. I had nothing in mind, none that I particularly wanted. Until my trusty red Fibrella umbrella gave up on me last week. I had it with me like 2 years ago, so it was kinda durable for its price. I told her that I wanted (more like needed) an umbrella, and she gave me this! I love the color and the handle. Rain or shine, I'll be bringing this with me everywhere I go.

5. Maybelline Pure Foundation Mineral Natural Perfecting Powder Foundation in BO2 - Beige Ochre 2

Okay, I'm cheating. This one is not pink, but the paper bag that came with it had pink details in it. Haha! This is another belated birthday gift from my team from work. It's so sweet of them to know what I want. I have been curious of this product for the longest time, and now I have it. I just hope that the shade is right for me. I'll use this as soon as I finish taking decent shots of this for my upcoming review. Stay tuned! :)

I want to know, what's your favorite color? :D

Love,
Helen
