Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful with Dove

Last week, I received a huge personalized package from Dove - just in time for Chinese New Year. 💛

Dove believes that every woman should celebrate her real and unique beauty. Speaking of that, were you able to watch the Miss Universe 2016 pageant yesterday? It was like the best 3 hours of my day! 😍 I was able to witness a very diverse set of stunning ladies, each of them beautiful in their own special way. Indeed, beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors!

Dove wants you to be your own kind of beautiful.

Let's see what's inside!

Dove essentials for my hair and body! 💙💙💙

The drawer below it contained a gold necklace and a personalized tumbler and notepad! 💛

Dove Intense Repair Shampoo (P125) and Conditioner (P120) address split ends and hair fall. I'm more excited for the conditioner, since I always use a sulfate-free shampoo.

I prefer body wash over bar soaps, so Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash (P185) is a staple in our bathroom. My mom hoarded bottles of this exact variant months ago when she spotted them on sale at Buy 1 Take 1. (Worth it!) It's affordable and it works. My skin's always soft and fragrant when I use this one.

Dove White Beauty Bar (P50) was the soap that was recommended to me by my pediatrician when I was a baby, as I had skin allergies then. This classic bar is very mild, and it healed my skin!

Dove Whitening Original Anti-Perspirant Deodorant comes in spray (P170) and roll-on (P50) form. I don't use deodorant though, since I don't need it. (I hardly ever sweat. LOL) My sister always uses Dove though, because it's proven to be more gentle compared to other brands.

Thank you for the love, Dove! 💋

Current Hair Care Routine

It's been a while! I love the luxury of time I now have with this long weekend, so may I be productive! :D

Today, I'll be sharing with you my current hair care routine and capsule reviews on each product.

Finesse Clean+ Simple Hypoallergenic Shampoo (P190.00)
For normal hair

I'm forever on the hunt for sulfate-free shampoos because my wavy hair would flatten should I use regular (foamy) shampoos. I spotted Finesse inside Fisher Supermarket and got intrigued - it claims to be non-irritating and free of allergens, dyes, sulfates, parabens, and gluten. My skin (particularly my fingers) would itch when I use too fragrant products, so I gave it a try.

True enough, it comes in a clear, mild-smelling, gentle, and low-foaming formula. Because of that, I use more amount of shampoo than usual just to get it to "bubble up" and make my hair feel clean. My hair looks and feels healthier whenever I use this. However, given the gentle nature of sulfate-free shampoos, I feel that not the all dirt are washed off and product seems to buildup after weeks of consecutive use. To counter it, I use a regular shampoo once a week to clarify my hair of buildup. This variant is for normal hair, which is good enough for me. The one for dry/colored hair might leave my hair heavy due to its moisturizing properties. I like this shampoo, but I'd repurchase only if I didn't find a better alternative to it.

Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner (P59.00)
(Total Damage Care)

I got 2 tubes from Sample Room and BDJ Box. I'm now on my second one!

I remember having sworn off Pantene before because some of their conditioner variants gave me bacne during my teenage years. The 3-Minute Miracle got so much hype that even I was got too curious. Good thing I gave it a try! What I like most about is its delicious fruity floral scent - imagine fresh wild strawberry and raspberry accord enveloped in a floral creamy heart underscored with warm vanilla. Lured you in? You're welcome!

This variant contains 80% more of the key conditioning ingredients (compared to their regular conditoners), and the highest level of advanced Terminal Amino-Silicones (TAS) to smoothen 3 months of damage in just 3 minutes. It's a big claim, but it really does work. My wavy hair has less frizz, and it smells really good!

Toni&Guy Casual Forming Gel Spray

I remember visiting (and revisiting) SM department store for months just to see if Toni&Guy's Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray was in stock. I wanted so badly to get that to enhance my wavy hair and make it even wavier! (I hope I still am making sense. Haha!) A few months ago, Toni&Guy sent me a package containing this. I thought it was the salt spray since they came in a similar packaging. My initial excitement wore off, and I stashed this in my drawer for future use. When I tried it just recently, I actually liked it! :D While it doesn't give my hair more texture, it is able to hold my waves all day to a finish that I desire. The atomizer dispenses a small amount of product at a time so there's no wastage, and it dries fast and leaves my hair looking natural, not too slick, too hard or too crispy. Another use for this is slicking back my baby hairs for when I do a sleek pony.

Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo (P275.00)

Yes, we do have Dove Dry Shampoo available locally! I got this from Landmark Department Store in Trinoma, but I saw a couple of bottles also inside Watermart Supermarket in North EDSA just a while ago.

There are days that my hair doesn't get exposed very much to outside forces (such as heat and pollution). And there are also days when I come home too late, too sleepy to wash my hair. Dry shampoo is my handy solution for that for the mornings that come after. I also find my hair in a healthier, shinier, more manageable state should I not shampoo daily. A few sprays nixes oil and freshens up my hair. It feels quite cooling on my scalp, but I find the scent a bit strong. Also, I don't apply this with a very heavy hand or concentrate on one section only since it may make my black hair look grayish. Remember to massage the product through roots for it to absorb oil evenly. If this came in a smaller aerosol can, I'd repurchase since it's very handy for travel.

This is the current state of my hair. It's not dry, but I'm growing out my colored ends. Halfway there! And yes, my hair is wavy like that. I used to have it rebonded way back in high school and college. Quitting rebonding and leaving its texture alone is the best thing I did for my hair.

What's your current hair care routine?

Helen

Dove White Beauty Bar

My Sample Room Review:

Source: sampleroom.ph

Dove White Beauty Bar could be the first ever beauty product I have used. My mom told me that this was prescribed to me by my pediatrician when I was a baby, because I had skin allergies, which resulted to dry, flaky, even scaly skin. True enough, Dove worked its magic on me; it cleaned and moisturized my skin like no other bar soap can. I love that it's made of 1/4 moisturizing cream, which meant that it could also work as a bath soap/in-shower lotion that keeps my skin soft, supple, and smooth. Dove has come up with lots of new variants, some with fresher scents, but this one in its original scent and formula is a classic. While it's gentle enough to be used also for the face, I still prefer using a separate facial wash. Perhaps the only downside to this beauty bar is that it has the tendency to easily melt given its creamy texture and moisturizing formula, but I am okay with that as I can always store this in a dry place after using to prevent it from melting.

I am very satisfied with this bar of Dove soap, and I'm so looking forward to trying out more samples from Sample Room. (Do sign up if you haven't!) I hope they restock soon, and that I am online when they do! Stocks run out lightning fast! I would love to get my hands (and hair) on the Kerastase Chroma Captive Masque!

Sample Room Loot #1: Celeteque & Dove

Sample box subscriptions like (Glamourbox, BDJ Box, and Saladbox) have invaded local beauty blogs late last year. Most of them offer a certain number of sample products for about P500.00 a month. While the excitement of not knowing what you'd get is present, it is inevitable that you'd receive product misses along with the stuff you'd like. Worse, a sample box would be a letdown, containing products that you don't need and won't ever use.

Sample Room
Try Before You Buy

Sample Room is a practical beauty junkie's dream. All you have to do is register over at sampleroom.ph, and you automatically get 100 points. You can use these points to purchase up to 3 product samples, which will be sent to your doorsteps for just a minimal fee (depending on the weight of the package and the location of the address). The only catch is that the products run out fast as soon as they're restocked, so you have to keep visiting their website for updates. As for the customer service, they're pretty awesome and efficient. I paid for my products last December 17, 2012, and received the package on December 19, 2012.

As of now, points aren't for sale. You can earn back the points you spent by making substantial and honest reviews of the products you got over at their site. You can also earn 1 point per friend referred.

My First Sample Room Loot

Here's my first ever Sample Room loot, with products from Celeteque and Dove. I absolutely loved that Celeteque and Dove gave away FULL-SIZED products!

Celeteque DermoScience Brightening Eye Tuck plus Dark Circles Lightener (35 points)
Price: P299.00 (15ml)

I wanted a new eye cream to add to my skincare routine, and I was actually waiting for Sample Room to restock this item before I picked out my samples. I'm so glad they did.

Céleteque DermoScience Restorative Ultra-Lifting Concentrated Serum (60 points)
Price: P899.00 (30ml)

I'm curious about serums and I thought that maybe this could work also as a night moisturizer/treatment.

Dove White Beauty Bar Soap (5 points)
Price: P25.00 (50g)

I'm no stranger to Dove Beauty Bars. I've used it since I were a baby, and now's the perfect time to finally review it.

I used up all my 100 points and got these 3 items. These 3 products cost  P1223.00, but I got these for free and only paid P100.00 for shipping. With Sample Room, you get what you want, with no surprises!

I'm on the process of testing these out, and as much as I want to get more samples, I don't want to rush my reviews just to earn back my points. I'll be posting my reviews on these products over at sampleroom.ph, so do watch out for that!

Love,
Helen
