Review: Belo Collagen Strawberry Smoothie

This is my kind of pink drink. 🌸 One of my best Sample Room discoveries so far is the Belo Nutraceuticals Collagen Strawberry Smoothie. 🍓

Pros:
  • DELICIOUS. I can't believe it. I finally found a collagen powder that has ZERO fishy smell and taste. It tastes just like strawberry milk!
  • Smells like strawberry marshmallows at first whiff.
  • Contains 5000mg of premium marine collagen from Japan.
  • Contains 1.2g of sugar per serving, not overly sweet.
  • Dissolves in cold water.
  • Skin was indeed more glowy.
  • I felt sleepy earlier whenever I drink this. (Insomniacs, rejoice!)
  • My favorite part: My right knee was injured from overuse (from daily exercise with no rest days) and I had to take medication for my inflamed knee a few months ago. The pain is gone, but my knee started to click often. I noticed that on the days I took this collagen supplement, my knee didn't click! Not a psychological effect, I'm sure. I wasn't expecting it to have THIS effect, but I love it!
  • Other long term benefits are thicker hair and stronger nails.

Cons:
  • Pricey... But of course we have a life hack for that!

Life hack #1: Get it for free at sampleroom.ph. You can get 5 sachets using 120 points, then just pay for shipping.

Life hack #2: It's currently on sale from PHP 1400 to PHP 979 in Shopee, and the Belo Essentials store has an additional PHP 50 discount voucher valid until 5.5. So you can get a box of 10 sachets for just PHP 929. 🥰 (You're welcome!)

I love Belo Collagen Strawberry Smoothie because the health benefits I've experienced with it is beyond skin improvement. I also got better sleep and improved knee joint as well! Definitely making this part of my daily routine.

Helen

Summer fresh finds from Sample Room

Yup, another Sample Room haul post! I've lost count on how many times I've gotten free samples from their site, and most of them are full-sized! 💖

This haul was prompted by the super hot weather we're having lately. I need to feel and stay fresh, hence these items! 😀

Being a big fan of Belo products, I got both versions of Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (in spray and roll-on form). The last time I used deo was in high school, and I remember buying Secret (in stick form) and I hated the white residue it left on my pits. 😞 Between these two Belo Intense White variants, I like the spray version more since application is a breeze. I leave mine in an air-conditioned room, and it feels cold on my skin upon application. It also smells really nice and fresh. The roll-on I got for my travels because of its handy size.

SRP:
Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (Aerosol) - P199.75
Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (Roll-On) - P104.75

Baby cologne is all I use now since I don't like wearing heavy fragrances in hot weather. Sure, the scent disappears quickly because fragrance concentration is very light, but I love that I can reapply anytime and feel fresh instantly!

My Bambini sample(s) came in a cute pouch and I have all 5 variants in 50ml bottles each. I reviewed all scents below:
  • My favorite is Morning Tickles (pink). It has a sweet, feminine scent. There's no mistaking it, one whiff and you'll say "baby girl". Haha 😂
  • My next favorite is Starry Lulluby (purple), I use it after my night shower before I sleep. The scent is a bit strong yet calming. It actually reminds me of the cologne I liked way back in college, Green Cross/Lewis & Pearl in Dream, which is a dupe of Gap Dream. They seem to like using purple as dream-themed colognes. 💜
  • Next is my least favorite color (orange), Sunny Playtime. I initially judged the bottle but what's inside surprised me. It smelled super light, mild, yet fragrant. It actually smells so mild, it seems like a watered-down cologne to me. If you're sensitive with scents, you might just like this one. The scent disappears minutes after you put it on, but the scent itself is very mabango! It appeals both to men and women.
  • Cotton Cuddles (green) and Ocean Kisses (blue) are on the more masculine side, I think. The color appeals to baby boys (both blue and green are my nephew's favorite colors). Cotton Cuddles has a shower fresh scent, while Ocean Kisses has aquatic notes.
The bottles and scents appealed to my kikay niece very much, and she asked if she could have the bottles of Morning Tickles and Starry Lulluby. As a doting aunt, I obliged.

SRP: P31.50 x 5 = P157.50 for 5 50ml bottles

My haul is worth P462 but I got these items for free and only paid P140 shipping fee for everything! 💛 SUPER SULIT! Thank you, Sample Room! 😍

Belo Baby Hair and Body Wash

I am enamored with Belo products. It's one of my favorite local brands! My favorite line from them would have to be SunExpert and AcnePro. A close friend of mine takes Belo Nutraceuticals Glutathione with Collagen, and when we saw each other again after a few weeks, she was already fairer than me. (Effective much!) Anyway, I saw the Belo Baby range in Zalora way back when it wasn't available yet in the malls and I grabbed it ASAP. I wanted to see if this can work as a sulfate-free shampoo for me. Also, I figured this would be sooo handy for travel, being a head-to-toe wash!

Just the mere fact that it's a baby product already gives the impression of this being a very gentle product. I like that it's made from 100% certified natural ingredients and 0% harmful chemicals!

This product contains shea butter and sweet almond oil to hydrate. Most importantly, it has no sulfate and other nasties! The cutie Scarlet Snow Belo is the face for this brand. If Vicki Belo uses this for her own baby, then it's bound to be good.

Belo Baby Hair and Body Wash has a very creamy texture. Because it has no surfactants, it doesn't lather AT ALL. Not even a little bit. With babies, this fact is totally fine because they already smell so good all the time. As for me, I find myself using up a lot of product, especially when I use this from head to toe. (I think this bottle would just last me around 2 weeks max!) It enhances my natural waves (not buhaghag unlike with regular shampoo), but my scalp doesn't feel totally cleansed because there's no bubbles. There's build up so I need to use a stronger shampoo once a week. I also use this on my face, and it's so gentle! (Don't skip the makeup remover though if you wear makeup.) No dryness, no breakouts! As a body wash, this one's amazing. It has a baby powder scent, and it leaves my skin really soft, even if I skip lotion. I'm still have mixed feelings whether I would recommend this for travel, because even if it's functional, you need a lot of pumps of product every bath time and if you transfer it to a small bottle, it will easily run out. But for babies, I think this is an excellent product. I like it!

On a side note, I like the Belo Baby Colognes as well; you can use it as cologne and hand sanitizer. But I have yet to buy them because I still have 4 bottle of fragrances in circulation at the moment.

Price: P219.75 for 200ml
Available in leading supermarkets and department stores nationwide

Zalora Haul: Belo & Maybelline

When I was still working the the office, all I wanted to do come 5PM was to just go home. Whenever I had to buy something, online shopping + COD were such good friends to me. I've shopped at Zalora before but I admit it wasn't always smooth-sailing. I had the wrong shoe size delivered to me twice, but the worst was a pair of mismatched stud earrings. I must be the Queen of Returns, but this time around, they didn't fail me!

I checked out my order around 5PM (of March 21) and received my orders 11AM the next day (March 22). This is the first time I've ever experience online shopping with less than 24 hours delivery time, they probably rushed the deliveries because of Holy Week.

Here are the items I got:

Belo SunExpert Sunbrella with UPF50 (P450)

I bought this for my Mom. She uses an umbrella everyday when she fetches my sister from school. I noticed she got darker because of that even with sunblock on. This could probably help, and it looks so cute! I want one too but it's huge, so I'll just stick to my foldable one for now.

BeloBaby Hair and Body Wash (P219.75)

Being a fan of Belo products, and being forever in search of a good sulfate-free shampoo, I got excited with this one. I'll transfer this to a smaller container and bring it with me to travels. No need to bring different bottles of hair and body wash! Also, since it's made for babies, it's bound to be gentle and good for my skin.

It's been too long since I bought anything from Maybelline. This used to be my favorite brand way back in college (probably because this was the only makeup I could afford). It's always nice to go back to an old favorite. I got the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Vibrant Violet on sale (P299 -> P199) after hesitating for weeks. I read Michelle's review and messaged her on Facebook about this particular shade. I even swatched it in the mall. Finally, I decided to go for it and I'm happy I did! :D (Review soon!) My other purchase was Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wings in Black (P329 -> P164.50), which is a liquid eyeliner pen. I want to master my eyeliner application, so I bought an affordable one to practice with.

Happy with this haul! :D Any hauls you'd like to share?

Love,
Helen

Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++++

I've used countless tubes of Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF 40 PA+++ ever since I discovered it way back during 2012, so I was thrilled when this tinted sunscreen came out! At first, I had apprehensions regarding the shade (medium/deep), but since it was available in Sample Room, why not give it a try?

Also, I was initially planning to repurchase Belo SunExpert Face Cover and try Maybelline Super BB Cream since I've read nothing but rave reviews, but because of this 2-in-1 tinted sunscreen, looks like I won't have to anymore!

It comes in a bright sunny yellow tube but with a smooth and sleek cap that has a sophisticated feel. However, I thought part of the tube was transparent to show the shade inside. Apparently, it's just printed on.

It comes with a slim nozzle to dispense just the right amount of product. It also doesn't spill.

  • SPF 50 PA++++ ensures broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays
  • Tone Adapt Technology evens out skin tone, conceals fine lines, wrinkles, and other imperfections
  • Cell Protect strengthens skin's defense against premature skin aging
  • Paraben-free, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist-tested
  •

My tube expires January 2019, so I guess we'll be bonding for a long time...3 years! :D

I was so happy when this arrived, and I hurriedly swatched it and had a huge sigh of relief. It's tone adapting technology fit my skin perfectly, even if the shade indicated medium to deep.

Bare face vs Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen alone

It had a creamy but thicker texture compared to the regular face cover, and it took a while for me to fully blend it, but when I was done, my face was demi-matte, even, and my cheeks were glowing! :O I LOVE THIS ONE! The coverage is light to medium, so it won't hide super dark circles and/or huge zits, but it does conceal mild imperfections. It doesn't make my face oilier than it normally is, and it doesn't cause irritations and breakouts as well. Weather has gotten so hot lately, so at most, I'd just wear a thin layer of mineral powder before I got this tinted sunscreen. Now, I can use this one alone and be #BeautifullyProtected or top it off with mineral powder for longer lasting power. I love Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen, and I would repurchase this in lieu of a separate sunblock and BB cream.

Price: P449.75 for 50ml
Available at Lazada

Current Skincare Routine

Here's my updated skincare routine for 2016. I've actually been using these products everyday for the past few months. It's a mix of drugstore products, because you don't have burn your wallet just to have a good complexion. :D

For makeup remover: SAVE or SPLURGE

I have oily skin so I like to use something light and refreshing for my entire face, just like Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion. It's a 2-in-1 product - cleanser and toner, and it actually feels just like water! You can just apply this using a cotton pad to cut short your skincare routine for tired nights and/or for when you have something done on your face (AKA eyebrow threading or tattoo) and can't wet your face. Super handy! It's efficient, and I like it a lot since it removes my everyday light makeup quickly. (My everyday makeup is devoid of any eye makeup, so that's another story.)

For days when I wear heavy waterproof makeup and/or eye makeup (shimmer eyeshadow, liner, and mascara), Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion is not enough. To prevent tugging, I reach for my potent cleansing oil, Shu Uemura Whitefficient Skin Purifier, to remove my makeup with minimal effort. As in, it melts off my makeup in seconds. This is also a 2-step product: makeup remover and facial cleanser. You first apply it as oil all over your face (or on your eyes and lips, if you prefer), massage to loosen the makeup, emulsify it with water, and rinse off. A little goes a long way with this one, so a big bottle will last you months.

For makeup removers, you can SAVE because there are a lot of options that will get the job done, but SPEND if you want to save time and get it done with minimal effort.

Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion (P419)

Shu Uemura Whitefficient Skin Purifier

For facial wash: SAVE

Don't fall for facial cleansers that promise you the world. At the end of the day, all they do is wash off dirt and oil from your face, while the fancy ingredients only sit for about a minute on your face. For my facial wash, I just use whatever is on the sink. This time, it's from Belo AcnePro. I like that it cleanses without drying out my skin, but I honestly prefer a less-scented foamier one. This gel fomula lathers up a bit, and it takes me more product than usual to get it to foam up and remove all the oil from my face. The good side is that this one's not drying at all considering it's an anti-acne product. It's also unique since its active ingredient is purified bee venom, a natural ingredient that fights pimples and reduces inflammation.

For toner: SPEND

Toner restores the skin's PH balance after washing (usually with soap, which is alkaline). Our skin has a thin, protective layer on its surface, referred to as the acid mantle. Toner removes leftover dirt, oil, and makeup our cleanser might have skipped, thus minimizing breakouts. They also prime the skin for it to absorb moisturizer better. I like Tony Moly AC Control Whitening Toner since it makes my skin feel soft! I've used up this bottle to the last drop, and I loved how mild and gentle it is. Long term use also resulted to lighter post-acne marks.

For eye cream: SPEND

Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Gel (P1,248)

Bioderma is a French drugstore skincare brand. Bioderma Sensibio Eye Contour Gel is for sensitive skin. It's hydrating and it has a light gel cream texture that feels refreshing on the eyes. It moisturizes my skin without feeling oily, so I can use this even during daytime under makeup. It is gentle as it didn't irritate my eye area - no itchiness, no milia. Puffy eyes aren't my biggest problem, so I can't tell if it really depuffs, but it doesn't lighten dark circles. Overall, this is a basic eye cream; it moisturizes gently and prevents wrinkles.

For pimple/spot treatment: SAVE

Nature Republic Bee Venom Treatment Spot (P525)

I picked this product up on whim during Nature Republic's launch at Robinsons Place Manila. Little did I know that my sister and I will be using this almost everyday. Yes. We all love this!

For starters, this one is made of MD Water (Alps Matterhorn Glacier Water) and 77% Bee Venom Complex. The ingredients list is extremely long, but it's mostly filled with natural extracts from plants. This product is a spot treatment, and I use it for zits that have reared their ugly head, and those that have yet to come (when I feel a bump forming). It flattens pimples before they fully emerge. It works in drying out my pimples in 2-3 days. It has a gel cream texture that absorbs well. It doesn't dry the skin surrounding the zit, nor does it sting or leave a dark post-acne mark. The packaging comes in a hygienic squeeze tube with a slim nozzle to dispense the right amount of product. The best part is that it contains 30ml worth of product. This could last me over a year; but then again, my two sisters steal this from me every night. It's super effective and it has been keeping my skin clear for over 3 months. Now, I want the entire Nature Republic Bee Venom range!

For moisturizer: SAVE

I say SAVE because moisturizers don't go into deeper layers of the skin. (Serums do.) This one's my unexpected favorite light moisturizer. The only Pond's product I've ever used consistently was their cold cream and this! I was initially apprehensive of using this one at first since its rose smell was kind of strong for a face product, but I tried it anyway. I'm happy to say that I'm now halfway through with my third tub, and I'm planning to repurchase. They came out with a cream version of this with SPF (interesting), but I'd still go for the gel formula because of my oily skin. This moisturizer absorbs quickly, and the scent goes away in a minute. It keeps my skin hydrated but never shiny. The gel formula feels cooling, too!

I've also spotted a nice promo from Pond's at Landmark Trinoma. Get a free exclusive rose gold sling bag when you buy P500 worth of Pond's Flawless White products inclusive of 25g BB Cream. I've been lemming for the Ponds Flawless White BB Cream in Light since Julia reviewed it, so now's the perfect time to shop! :D

Helen
