Garnier Micellar Cleansing Rose Water Review

Back to office is real so I had to buy a new makeup remover. It's the first time I've seen Garnier Micellar Cleansing Rose Water as I've never encountered it in stores. Turns out, it's online exclusive here in the Philippines. While I'm oily and the blue variant was the "correct" variant to get, I bought this because it's pink. ðŸĪŠ

This variant is made for normal to dry skin, but it cleanses my oily skin well and leaves it hydrated. It's made of rose water with 0% alcohol. It makes my skin glow - I was surprised too! It smells so relaxing, and I look forward to removing my makeup with this. This can remove liquid lipstick well, but it's a struggle to remove waterproof mascara with this. I don't use eyeliner/mascara on a daily basis, so I'm fine with it.

Each 400ml bottle is good for 200 uses.

Price: P306
Available at Garnier's Flagship Store in Lazada

How to fake that well-rested GLOW - under P1,000!

Who here lacks sleep? 🙋

I'm always puyat. I'm not proud of it, but it is what it is. My daily work schedule ends at 8PM, so I almost always sleep past midnight. By the time I get home, I'm already dying so forgive me for the lack of updates. Haha 😂 Today, I'm going to share with you my 3 favorite drugstore products that gives me that well-rested GLOW even if I don't get enough sleep.

Garnier Light Complete Multi-Action Eye Roll-On
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment
Collagen by Watsons White Regeneration Instant Finishing Cream

Before & After
AKA how I make my eyebags disappear

I remember using up a tube of this before; it was my very first Garnier product! Garnier Light Complete Multi-Action Brightening Eye Roll-On (P240) has improved and refomulated through the years, and I like how this one has an instant cooling effect due to the metal rollerball applicator that always stays cool even in room temperature. It has caffeine extract that de-puffs eye bags. It's a relaxing treat for the eyes - in the morning when I wake up, before I apply makeup, by midday when my eyes feel tired from working in front of the computer, and also at night before I sleep. It's addictive to use, and I think I'll empty this one in no time!

Ingredients

I first spotted Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment (P399) way back July 2017 which I posted in IG. I got a tube soon after and didn't even take decent product shots of it in its pristine condition, but I've been using it everyday. It comes in 3 shades: Light, Medium, and Honey. Mine is obviously Light, and I love how lightweight and blendable the formula is. It doesn't really treat my dark circles, but I love how it manages to cover them all day - which is good enough for me. My sister hates the sponge tip applicator since it's rather unhygienic, absorbs a lot of product, doesn't look nice when it's old, but it functions well when it comes to application that I don't even need to use a separate concealer brush anymore. This concealer makes my eyebags disappear, and I will definitely repurchase this when I run out.

As for the photo above, I'm wearing the Garnier Eye Roll-On, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, and only a miracle skincare product all over my face - with no other makeup product! The glow is real, and I found it in a Watsons skincare brand! OMG 😍

I'm no brand snob since I love affordable products that give a bang for your buck. I buy body wash from Watsons when they're on a buy 1 take 1 deal, but never have I ever thought that I will actually try their skincare line. I'm half scared to experiment with Watsons skincare, but since Denise and Kaycee were all raving about this cream, I ran to Watsons after work, 10 minutes before the mall closed to get my own tub.

You can fake that glow and cheat your way to chok chok skin with Collagen by Watsons White Regeneration Instant Finishing Cream (P499 regular price, P399 for non-members, P319 for SMAC members/BDO Rewards card holders until January 24, 2018). This product is paraben-free and is made in Korea.

Ingredients

The cream has a light floral fragrance and a pearly finish.

Niacinamide is high up on the ingredients list - 6th to be exact. It has 3 types of collagen - marine, green, and hydrolysed - for smoother and more elastic skin. This product adds natural translucency to skin instantly for that glow which you can see in photos, and even more in person. No need for makeup!

There are 2 ways to use this cream:
  1. Apply at night as the last step of your skincare routine (after moisturizer) to seal in all the good stuff.
  2. Use as a makeup base.

Swatches - looks like highlighter!

Before & After

No makeup, just concealer + cream!

The glow is even more evident in person! This cream is crazy effective. However, I have oily skin so I look shiny with this on when the weather gets hot. In the office though where the air-conditioner is always angry and blasting, this cream works like a charm. The floral scent lingers on, too. I can smell it an hour after I applied it. It smells nice though, I just had to mention it to those who are sensitive to fragrances in skincare.

There you go! These are my go-to products everyday to combat haggardness even when I lack sleep. 😉 Do you have your glow secrets, too? Spill! 😍

Love,
Helen

PS. Today's the last day for you to get the Collagen by Watsons Instant Finishing Cream on SALE!!! ðŸ’ļ You're welcome! 👍

I found Maybelline Micellar Water's twin, and it's even more affordable!

My all time favorite Japanese cleansing water got discontinued here in the Philippines, so I had to try another brand. Maybelline came to mind instantly, since they're the first to bring in affordable micellar water here in our country! Having read so much rave reviews, I just had to try it, too! I'm halfway through with my bottle as of writing this review.

To be honest, I like this one, but I don't love it. This product is mild, gentle, and feels just like water. It doesn't sting my eyes or dry out my skin. Sure, it does its job with makeup removal and it's affordable, but it doesn't have any other additional skincare benefits. I have to use 2 cotton pads soaked with Maybelline Micellar Water to remove light, everyday makeup. On days I apply my waterproof foundation, I need 3 or more cotton pads, several more passes before my makeup totally comes off. I still double cleanse with facial wash and apply toner, as I feel that going straight for moisturizer will make me breakout. (My skin type is oily, while this product is made for sensitive skin.)

It's an okay product, but I am not repurchasing for the main reason that I have found an identical product with almost the SAME ingredients at an even cheaper price. Everyone, let's compare the ingredients of Maybelline Micellar Water vs Garnier Micellar Water (Pink).

Maybelline Micellar Water Ingredients

Garnier Micellar Water Ingredients

The only difference is that Maybelline has an added ingredient BHT, which is a cosmetic preservative. Both brands are under the L'Oreal group, and they are even manufactured by the same factory - BEAUTYCOS International in China. So yes, they're the basically same.

Prices:

Maybelline Micellar Water 200ml - P199
vs
Garnier Micellar Water 125ml - P149
Garnier Micellar Water 400ml - P249

Because of my skin type, I chose the blue variant of Garnier, which is for oily and acne-prone skin. I even got it on sale for just P199 for the big 400ml bottle! 😍 My sister already has the same big bottle at home and it took me fewer passes to get all my makeup off! That's why I made the purchase. Can't wait to finally use up my Maybelline Micellar Water so I could move on to my next one. 😂

Are you also using Micellar Water? Which brand are you using?

Love,
Helen

Current Skincare Routine

The first time I did a skincare routine post was way back September 2012. Here's an update on my skincare regimen.

Current Skincare Routine (AM)

- currently on my 4th tube

- currently on my 3rd tube

My bottle is still half-full, but I chanced upon the Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF 40 with an amazing buy 1 get 1 free promo at The SM Store, so I immediately bought backups!

Current Skincare Routine (PM)

- currently on my 7th tub

- currently on my 4th tube

3. Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner
- I'm currently testing this out. With all the good reviews I've read, I'm hoping it will work for me too. What I love about it is that it's so gentle on the skin - no scent, no sting!

- After trying out 2 mini tube samples, I finally bought a full-sized one!

-  The metal rollerball feels cool and refreshing, and it seems to be working if you use it long term. After 8 months of consistent use, my eyes aren't as puffy and my dark circles don't look so evident.

6. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
- I use a non-tinted lip balm at night, and I love this one since it feels so tingly cool on my lips!

What's your current skincare routine?

Love,
Helen

Garnier Body LightExtra Whitening Repairing Milk Lotion

While I commit the skincare crime of not moisturizing my oily face at night, I religiously apply lotion all over my body every night. I have a hard time falling asleep when I don't use lotion, because I hate the uncomfortable dry skin feeling.

Garnier Body LightExtra Whitening Repairing Milk Lotion

I got this big bottle of Garnier lotion a few months ago, and now I'm halfway through with it. I try my best to open and use just 1 bottle of lotion at a time, so they won't accumulate on my nightstand.

About the product:

Ingredients:

Pros:
  • Manufacturing date is indicated in the packaging.
  • It has a fresh, lemon scent similar to their face products. While on face products, it's a con to have such a strong fragrance, on the body I don't mind at all.
  • Body milk or milk lotions means it has a lighter texture/consistency, and is more watery compared to other lotions.
  • It is easily absorbed into the skin.
  • It's non-sticky.
  • It has UV filters to provide the skin with minimal sun protection. (Some form of protection is better than none at all.)
  • Skin feels smooth and supple, and looks more healthy after application.
  • This lotion is ideally for normal to just slightly dry skin.

Cons:
  • It contains mineral oil, a potential pore clogger.
  • The "measurable whitening efficacy" ruler is not effective for me. My skin tone doesn't match any of the shades indicated on the base of the packaging.
  • Even with everyday use, I noticed no visible change in my skin tone.
  • It is not enough to moisturize flaky and/or very dry skin (such as heels).

Will I repurchase? No, I've tried other light-textured lotions more moisturizing than this.
Price: P229.00
Available in supermarkets and leading department stores nationwide.

This one from Garnier I consider as a day lotion because of it's light texture. I like that it smells fresh, is definitely non-sticky, and has UV filters to protect our skin from the sun's damaging rays. However, I still prefer using thicker body butters for full-on moisturizing power, since it's only at night when I moisturize my body.

What lotion are you currently using? How do you find it? :)

Love,
Helen

Haul: BDJ Box Beauty Social Loot Bag

Last September 29, BDJ Box had their 2nd Beauty Social event at SM North EDSA Skydome. Since it happened on a Sunday, and Sunday was family day, I made my sister sign up and come with me during the event!

BDJ Box Beauty Social

We were supposed to attend the first 2 talks, but we had lunch with our Dad first at Cafe Breton in Trinoma. Good thing we made it just in time before the Shiseido Talk started! During the talk, we were introduced to the new Shiseido Ibuki skincare range which is all the rage right now amongst beauty bloggers.

BDJ Box Beauty Social Loot

Everyone who pre-registered via e-mail received a loot bag after attending a talk. This is my first time to attend a BDJ Box Beauty Social event, and my, they gave away so much stuff!

Back issues of Cosmpolitan and Women's Health

I don't have copies of these issues yet so yey! :D

Contractubex Sample from Women's Health

This one's included in the back issue of the magazine.

Bifesta Cleansing Express Cleansing Lotions
in Sebum (for oily skin) and Moist (for dry skin)

I loved these makeup remover wipes. They're handy for sleepovers or travels!

Bifesta Hairband

I got this from participating in the Bifesta booth. Just sign up and pick a prize! My sister did the same and took home a green Cose pouch.

Celeteque Dermoscience Brightening Tri-benefit Power Cream
Celeteque Dermoscience Advanced Anti-Aging Anti-Wrinkle Ultra-Hydrating Cleansing Oil
Celeteque Dermoscience Acne Soutions Acne Cleansing Gel
Celeteque Dermoscience Acne Solutions Acne Clearing Facial Moisturizer Gel

Why do they have to have such long names? :o Now I have too many Celeteque samples, and I love that they're not in sachets or near expiry. These ones are also so handy for travel! My favorites would have to be the cleansing oil and the moisturizer gel.

Garnier Pure Active Fruit Energy Energizing Facial Foam

I was so happy to see Garnier's newest product in FULL SIZE inside the loot bag! I have yet to try this, but it smells so fresh.

Goody Hair Tie

Weirdly enough, my sister was most excited for this Goody hair tie among all things inside my loot bag!

Revlon Nail Art Neon Nail Enamel in Ultra Violet

This one made me really happy! :D I would have preferred the green and white one (Hello, school spirit!) or one in red or pink, but I like this anyway. My sister got the yellow and white version of this.

Yves Rocher Naturelle Eau de Toilette Sample

Ralph Lauren Big Pony Women #1 Eau de Toilette Sample

I got this at the Ralph Lauren booth, where we did a fragrance consultation and tried out the scents 1, 2, 3, and 4. I like 1 best, it smells really fresh! :D

Too Cool For School Samples

My sister and I also dropped by Too Cool For School's booth, where we played Yutnori. It was easy since you just dropped 4 wooden sticks and got cute samples along the way!

Too Cool For School also had a nice photobooth, where we had this souvenir shot! :D

We didn't stay long, although I would have loved to, but we had fun at the 2nd BDJ Box Beauty Social! ♥

Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll-On

Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll-On has caused much buzz when it was released a few years back. I think what made it wildly popular was novelty - we're all used to eye creams, so an eye roll-on was a nice change. Plus, it claims to depuff eye bags and reduce dark circles all at a very affordable price. While I don't have (very) dark circles to begin with, I work in front of the computer all day and my eyes feel so tired by the end of my shift. I tested this product for weeks, and now here's a review.

Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll-On (P199.00)

About the Product:

  • Caffeine - stimulates micro-circulation, brightens , adds radiance
  • Massage - drains the eye area of liquids that causes puffiness

  • Contents: 15ml
  • Shelf lift: 6 months after opening

Ingredients:

Pros:
  • It comes in a compact and slim tube, and the contents won't spill so it's safe to bring it everywhere you go.
  • It contains caffeine that stimulates micro-circulation underneath the skin, and I believe that this also helps in depuffing eye bags. (Caffeine is also used to temporarily decrease the appearance of cellulite.)
  • This product is fragrance-free, but I still detect a hint of that fresh, lemony signature scent of Garnier's Light range. (I actually like the scent so it's a pro for me.)
  • This product is tested by dermatologists and opthalmologists.
  • This product has a metal ball applicator that is used to massage the eye contour. The metal ball is cool to touch even if you just leave it in room temperature, so it has this energizing and depuffing effect on the eye bags. Upon application, I feel an immediate but slight lifting effect on my eye area! On some days, I like leaving this in the fridge to give my eye area an extra cool treat. This product provides instant relief to my hot, tired eyes. The cool rollerball applicator just feels so good!

Cons:
  • The applicator can be hard to control, and during the times that too much product is dispensed, you'd have to use your ring finger to spread the product along your eye contour area for it to be absorbed.
  • The product comes in liquid form, and it could take a few minutes for it to be totally absorbed into the skin.
  • While it makes my eyes look less puffy, I haven't really noticed a reduction of my dark circles.
  • It's not moisturizing. If you have other eye area concerns like fine lines, skip this one.

Price: P199.00/15ml
Would I repurchase? No, but I might try the tinted version of this.
Available at leading department stores nationwide.

I just realized, this is the first Garnier product I've ever reviewed. Have you also tried the Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll-On and/or the tinted version? How do you find it?

Love,
Helen
