Indulge with Shakey's Meaty Meat-Free Quorn Pizzas!

Happy Chinese New Year! 💖 Today was a very productive day! In the morning, my sister and I had a garage sale, so we were able declutter and earn. In the afternoon, we went to Caution Hot for late lunch. For dinner, my Dad, my sister, and I went to Shakey's! 🍕 We like their branch in Waltermart North EDSA, since it's the one that's closest to our place, and it's always peaceful there.

Tonight, I introduced to my family Shakey's meat-free pizzas! 😋 When I first heard of it, I thought it was just filled with veggies. 😐 I don't hate vegetables, but how can pizza be fun without beef, bacon, or pepperoni? What if I tell you, these meat-free pizza can impress even your most carnivorous friend? I'm seeing juicy chunks of chicken and thick slices of pepperoni here! 😮

The magic comes with Shakey's Philippines' partnership with UK food company Quorn. Quorn products are meat substitutes made from Mycoprotein. They are a nutritionally healthy protein source, gluten-free, naturally low in saturated fat, and rich in fiber. They have the familiar taste and texture of meat, minus the big calories.

There are 2 Quorn Pizza variants: Protein Surprise and Cheesy Chick'N. I ordered both for them to try (and be amazed). 😁

Protein Surprise is perfect if you want your pizza to have everything on it, but don't want to gain any more extra pounds. (Sneaky choice!) It has Quorn Chicken Style Pieces and Quorn Pepperoni, and I am so amazed because it really looks and tastes like meat. It's made extra special with black olives, bell peppers, onions, mushroom, and pineapple tidbits.

The Cheesy Chick’N pizza is a must-try! It has huge chunks of Quorn Chicken Style Pieces that tastes just like actual chicken chunks. (You wouldn't be able to tell the difference if the concept of Quorn wasn't introduced to you beforehand.) We LOVED this one! 😜 It also contains onions, bell peppers, cheddar cheese, and generous amounts of drizzled cheese sauce. 💛

I think you can choose these variants whenever you order their set meals. 👍 And because I have with me my Shakey's Supercard, we even got 10% on our bill! (My favorite perk of the Supercard is the free pepperoni pizza on my birth month. Wee!)

I was able to discover these new Shakey's Quorn Pizzas when I went to the launch last week at Beyond Yoga Serendra. The invite seemed strange. Pizza party at a yoga studio?

Now you don't have to feel guilty when you indulge after working out! 😊 I'm definitely happy with that. The Shakey's Quorn Pizza will be available until March 31, 2017. Catch it while you can!

Shakey's Justice League United Party

I'll share with you a secret: I LOVE going to children's parties. The kid-at-heart inside of me just can't outgrow it. I love seeing the kids play games, but my favorite part of it all would probably be all the junk party food.

On the next birthday bash of your kid, wouldn't it be exciting to have a superhero-themed playtime? Even my four year old niece, Daphne, wow-ed at the party theme (as I was writing this post). She got excited and said, "Superman!" "Shakey's!" "Balloons!" and "Superhero!" :D

Shakey’s is now offering the Justice League Unlimited party package, inclusive of signature dishes, activities, and even props that will make the celebration even more special. They even encourage guests to dress up for the party!

Even Wonder Woman was present that day!

The kids enjoyed the games! It was fun to watch since they're all so competitive and active. Kids nowadays. :D

After the launch, I still couldn't get over the Shakey's 1954 Pizza and my Mini Cooper dreams, so last weekend I treated my family to a Shakey's dinner in their newly renovated branch in Quezon Avenue. This branch is their biggest one in the Philippines. While the service was okay, the place was a bit noisy (since there were too many people), so next time I think we'll just go to their Tomas Morato branch.

I ordered for us the Monster Meal Deal (P2,130.00), which is good for 10-12 pax. The set meal includes the following items:

• 2 platters of rich and flavorful pasta

Carbonara Supreme

A rich combination of creamy white sauce with flavorful bacon, ham and shittake mushrooms topped with grated premium parmesan cheese, bacon bits, and fresh chopped parsley. Served with Garlic Bread.

Classic Spaghetti

A hefty serving of Shakey's Classic Spaghetti served with Garlic Bread.

Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) 2011

Last weekend, my friend and I went to MAFBEX at World Trade Center. I remember going here last year with my friend and I was hoping to find the Chrysanthemum Tea I bought (which came in a bulb and opens when you put it in a cup of hot water) for Papa as Father's Day gift. Well there was none, but nevertheless, I got to know and try out many interesting food there. :)

There were lots of food carts and stalls selling snacks, and we chose Noodle House.

An order of noodles + 2 pieces of siomai is only P28.00. Add P10.00 for a cup of ice-cold black gulaman. Yum!

I love this milk chocolate fountain! It's so fun to dip biscuit sticks in this. I wish I had one at home, but it's so expensive (around P30,000.00).

I never knew there was a Shakey's bus! You can rent this when you want Shakey's to come to your party!

The friendly peeps of Ehje's Peanut Butter (Ms. Ehje, the owner, is at the middle)

These are home-made peanut butters that are so yummy! I got this at 3 for P100.00. One for Papa, 2 for Grandma. Ehje's also supplies the same of peanut butter to French Baker and Julie's Bakeshop, the only difference is that they come in glass jars for those stores as compared to this plastic cups.

Outside the selling area were displays of table arrangements. This one caught my eye because of its pretty red and pink theme.

After our food-tripping and shopping at MAFBEX, we went to SM Mall of Asia to have dinner. We had a bucket of KFC Crispy Fries and Greenwich Special. Fast food is evil.

After dinner, we watched X-Men First Class. I had no background of X-Men and what it was all about. Before watching the movie, we had this conversation:

Helen: Sino ba si X-Men? Ano yung costume niya?
Friend: X-Men yung tawag sa grupo nila.
Helen: Ah! Kaya pala x-MEN!

Haha! :)) Now I know. After watching the movie, I became a fan!
