A month ago, I bought the August-September 2012 issue of Maven, and I read from there that they were going to have a second leg of their Beyond the Blush Beauty Blowout mall tour. I remember attending the first leg of Beyond the Blush in Trinoma, and boy did I enjoy it. So after over a month of being excited, this time around, I invited a couple of my lovely blogger friends to join me for an afternoon of fun and fabulous girl bonding!
To join the event (with free workshops and a loot bag worth over P500.00!), one must pre-register with Maven on their Facebook page, and bring a copy of Maven's latest issue on the day itself. In short, it is the wisest thing to spend your last P100.00 on!
The workshops started at around 1PM, with MYX VJ Bianca Roque as the host of the event.
Karen Ostrea of Global Image Management Inc. talked about how we could professionalize ourselves in the workplace. We were taught the basics of analyzing our body shape, to power dressing, and the different levels of dressing up (from corporate to casual). The part I enjoyed most was the color analysis portion. We discovered how colors affect one's mood, and were taught on how to choose flattering colors for our skin's undertone (either warm or cool). I learned from the talk that my color personality is red!
There was a beauty talk and actual demo from Benefit Cosmetics. The featured their newest boxed sets that are so nice (but so expensive)!
We were also taught the basics of skincare from Prime Skin Asia. Nivea also raffled of some goodie bags.
And because we mavens are well-rounded women, Ben Ampil gave us some goal-setting and money-saving tips for us to prepare for the future.
The Face Shop was also there to show us the day and night looks that pretty Korean ladies do. I discovered from this workshop the following:
- Dewy skin is in, matte is out. Because the cool climate in Korea makes their skin dry, they want some extra glimmer in their skin for it to look more healthy. This makes highlighter a must-have!
- Apply liner first, then eyeshadow. That is because liner is sometimes cream-based, and it needs powder for it to set.
- You can wear smoky eyes during the day - provided that you use more neutral shades. (My personal favorite would be chocolate brown eyeshadow!)
The Face Shop also raffled off everything they used (but not the actual ones that are used) in the workshop to the lucky audience! I was told that I won a flat brush, but since I was busy hovering around the booths and chatting that I wasn't able to hear the announcement. Oh well, give chance to others! Haha
Everyone also got to have a Maven cupcake from Sweet Patti Cakes and pink champagne from Manny O Wines.
There was also a beauty sale with brands such as Orly, LA Colors, Wet N’ Wild, Human Nature, etc. My favorite was Snoe! This was where Dawn and Liz and I lingered for the longest time, hence the pictures.
Lovely scents from Snoe's Body Ritual Recipes range. Which reminds me that I will write about the new scent I got (Vanilla Bean and Butterscotch). It smells absolutely yummy!
Snoe Flash On Falsies, Beso Balm, Hard Candy Lip Color, Here Comes the Sunblock and Suntervention, and Magic Apple Whitening S-rub are just some of my must-haves.
Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire Loose Finishing Skincare Powder comes in 3 shades and smells absolutely delicious!
Here are two of their newest releases: Shoo-Zit Matte World Mattifying Acne Toner and Shoo-Zit Spray Me From Behind Back Acne Spray.
Sam, Nicole, I, Liz, and Dawn all beaming with our fabulous Maven loot bags!
Everyone who pre-registered got to take home an exclusive Maven loot bag. (Check out the loot that I got from their first event here.) I love it to bits - even the bag itself is practical, as we can't use plastic bags in Quezon City anymore. So looks like I'll be bringing with me my Maven eco-bag everywhere I go. :)
Watch out for my next Maven post - the unveiling of the massive loot I got to take home from the event! :D
Love,
Helen
Wah so much fun! I pre-registered but got caught up in another important engagement which was cancelled due to flooding. Then I completely forgot about the Maven event in the afternoon! Aigoo! :P
ReplyDeleteSayang, hope to see you next time! We were so caught up in the event that we didn't notice the bad weather outside. Umuulan pala ulit tapos may nagtetext nalang na baha na sa mga lugar. Haha :P

Hello Chrystal! Sayang, I hope to meet you next time around. :)
DeleteWow, I came here too, Helen but I didn't see you. Oh well, I arrived so late pala because of the Goody event and bad weather. =( Maven's so generous with the loot; it goes to show how much they love their readers. =)
ReplyDeleteI heard your name called at the raffle, but I didn't get to see you too! Yes, Maven is super generous to their loyal readers. :)
