Careline Eyeshadow Quad in Hip Hop

Today, I'll share with you a product that's light on the pocket but big on colors! It's Careline's Eyeshadow Quad in Hip Hop. Though I'm a fan of neutral-colored eyeshadows, it's always fun to try out new things every once in a while.

Careline Eyeshadow Quad in Hip Hop (P165.00)

It has 4 shimmery shades of light, ultra-fine loose powder eyeshadows that add sparkle to your eyes.

The packaging is cute. The loose eyeshadow pigments are inside each cylinder with a sponge-tip applicator on top of each one. Plus, this eyeshadow quad is enriched with vitamin E.

Ingredients:

I've always thought that Careline, being a local makeup brand, was locally made. The packaging says otherwise - it's made in China.

Even if I find the packaging cute and unique, it's not very useful and practical. I had a hard time getting the product out using the sponge applicators. Plus, it's not very hygienic to keep on dipping the sponge inside the entire product. I think this would be better if it had a nicer packaging.

You may opt to transfer this to little pot containers like the ones below (ala loose mineral makeup style). These little pots I got from Landmark for just P10.00 per pack (containing 2 pots and 1 spatula).

The Hip Hop quad contains 4 bright metallic shades (reddish, yellow/gold, green, and pale blue). I find that the product has uneven distribution of the shades, with green having the least amount of product, then gold, then blue. The reddish shade is so full that the product does not move much even when you shake it.

Now, I'll show you how pigmented these eyeshadows are.

Swatch

Isn't that just lovely? The colors glide on my skin so smoothly. I heard that it would work even better when mixed with water upon application (also to make the product last longer), but I haven't tried that yet. My favorite shade would be the green one because it looks so lovely (like jewels) when worn.

What do you think about this product from Careline?

Love,
Helen

  1. I find pigments to be really really messy, I get more on my hands than my eyes.. hahaha! but you're right- the green shade is much like a jade jewel.. :)

    1. True! :) I like my makeup in pressed form, loose powders are sometimes difficult to work with.

  2. OMG i spent my highschool days playing w a bunch of careline shadows haha but i cant bring myself to liking them now for same reasons and idk, i feel like i've upgraded my taste in things. I really hate the container and dislike all the more that it has been years and they havent bothered improving the packaging.

im curious as to how you would transfer the pigments? will you break the container? i cant imagine how you can scoop it out hehe mess yan

    1. Hahaha! I used to play with "cheap" eyeshadows too when I was younger, but I do agree that they still need improvement.

The base of the container can be opened. I saw it in another blog. :)

  3. I didn't know Careline eyeshadows are that pigmented! I have a similar loose-type eyeshadow. I think I'll transfer mine just like you did. =) Thanks for the idea. =)

    1. I find that these shadows work better in the pot containers than the original packaging. The pigments are pretty nice for its price, but I'm not a big fan of loose powder makeup because of the mess. :P

    1. Thanks, Belle! :)

Sometimes I love sparkly eyeshadows because they brighten up my small eyes. As for the bottom part of the packaging, I think it can be pried open but once you do, you can't return it anymore or you'll have no more use for the container.

  7. I have a similar-looking product pero from Avon and one shade lang. The pigmentation looks good pero looks messy nga pag in-apply.

    1. Oh I've seen the Avon one from their brochure! Medyo same nga yung concept.

Yes, it's kinda messy and some of the pigments might fall out because it's in loose powder form. I still prefer compact eyeshadows.
