DIY: Save My Lipstick

Oh snap! My lipstick broke!

Some lipsticks can be a bit too soft that they break when pressure is applied (such as running it along your lips). But sometimes rough handling can cause a normal lipstick to break. Some may have experienced lipstick meltdown. (Don't leave your makeup in the car!) If the damage has been done, all is not lost. You may still rescue your favorite tube of lipstick!

What you will need:

1. A broken lipstick

2. An empty cosmetic container

3. A spatula

4. A matchstick

5. A candle

6. A metal spoon

7. Tissues

Steps:

1. Line your workstation with tissue.

2. Get the desired amount of lipstick from the tube, and place it on a clean metal spoon.

3. Position the spoon above the lighted candle, but don't put it too near the flame as it may burn the lipstick.

4. The lipstick will begin to melt slowly.

5. Once the lipstick has completely turned into liquid, carefully pour it into the plastic container. Take care as the mixture cools and hardens instantly. Let it cool for a few minutes before using and you're all set!

Done!

It's not perfect because I tried mixing the lipstick and evening out the surface but it immediately solidified. (I was not expecting that!) The scent of the lipstick did not change even when heated. I like this method better than just transferring and pressing a lipstick into a container because that one would look so messy. However, I wish I could have scraped out the remaining lipstick from the tube's base since this mixture did not even fill up the plastic container. But then, there's always a next time!

The clear base of this container allows you to see the shade with ease. You can put a sticker on it if you wish to label this lipstick shade.

Next time, I would like to experiment by adding 2 shades simultaneously on both sides of the container. I'm so excited! :D

There you have it, your very own DIY "Save My Lipstick" Moment, brought to you by Lucky Citrine!

Love,
Helen

    1. Oh I'd think twice myself if it were MAC. :D Maybe your friend could soften the broken part with a candle, and stick it back to the tube. :)

  10. Hi! Blower will do also. More convenient and safer. Though it will take longer than this method.
