When planning for a beach trip, a Brazilian wax is in order! I believe that the universe conspired to give me exactly what I needed when I received an invite from Pink Parlour to try out their award-winning Brazilian wax. How could I say no to baby smooth, hair-free skin?

Pink Parlour currently has 3 branches: SM North EDSA, A. Venue, and SM Center Pasig. The branch that was closest to me was SM North EDSA, which is so convenient for me since I pass by this place almost everyday.
Pink Parlour, SM North EDSA
Pink Parlour is located on the 5th level of SM North EDSA The Block. You'll see their super pink, super girly, and super dainty facade just across the escalator so it's impossible to miss.
The waiting area was posh, but I wish it could have been more private. The waiting area was directly facing the outside, where the escalators are. Perhaps a little glass frosting would be a nice touch.
On the counter was this cute little pink kitty! She's the most kikay kitty I've seen. A less kikay version of the same kitty is in each treatment room for hugging purposes. (You'll know why if you've had a wax before - it makes the pain more bearable.)
Pink Parlour has a nail parlour with 6 soft chairs for nail treatments that are fit for royalty.
What I like about Pink Parlour is their high regards for safety and sanitization, which means peace of mind for each of their clients. They go by their Superior Sanitization promise as an assurance for their commitment to give the most sanitary service available.
- UV sterilization kills 99.99% virus & bacteria
- Protection sanitization bags for all tools
- No double dipping
- Use of Karcher hot steamer to disinfect sinks & showers
- Regular anti-bacterial store fogging
Upon arrival, I was handed a towel and led to the shower area for a quick rinse. Then I proceeded to a private room for my main purpose of having a Brazilian wax. The last time I've had one was just a month ago, hence regrowth wasn't a biggie (yet). I was told that the more often you wax, the sparser the hair regrowth will be.
The inside of the room was still all pink, with black and white accents for the bed and the tables. The treatment bed had fresh towels over it.
On the table were the materials and tools my therapist needed for my Brazilian wax.
As promised, their tools are indeed sterilized and sanitized prior to the treatment.
Pink Parlour only uses Caron Hard Wax, which is Australia's #1 wax known for it's unsurpassed quality, efficiency, and gentle formulation. Even the wax is pink! How cute! Although it looked strawberry-scented/flavored, it had no scent to it and it's hypoallergenic.
It's actually my first time to try hard wax like this. The hot (not warm) melted wax is applied using a wooden spatula on the area. Each wooden spatula is thrown away after application, which is part of their strict "no double dipping" rule. I was actually a bit worried that it was a little too hot for me to handle, but my therapist assured me that it won't burn my skin. The initial heat setting was set to 5 (middle), but she adjusted it to 1 (lowest heat setting). Even with the lowest heat setting, I still found it quite hot, so maybe my skin was sensitive to the heat. Thankfully, as my therapist promised, no burns! The wax then dries up after a few seconds, then the therapist pulls the solidified wax in one swift motion. Off comes the hair! This went on for several times, until every strand of hair was removed. Since a Brazilian wax meant clean all over - front to back with zero hair left, I was left with super soft and smooth skin all over again - in just about 30 minutes or less. Beach trip or no beach trip, I can really get used to this clean feeling, also for hygiene purposes.
For your convenience, Pink Parlour has an Online Booking service over at their website. Also, feel free to like Pink Parlour Philippines on Facebook for more information on their services and promotions. In case you're wondering, a Brazilian wax at Pink Parlour goes for P900.00 for ladies, and P1,250.00 for men.
Pink Parlour promises maximum comfort and minimal pain. While a Brazilian wax can't be totally pain-free, I say that it's very tolerable (based from my experience). Try it! ;)
Love,
Helen
"the hot (not warm) melted wax"
ReplyDelete-so it's really hot :))
I would like to give Brazilian wax a try too, but I'm hesitant because, well, I don't think it'll be comfortable. I haven't tried bikini waxing too. Did you start with a regular bikini wax before trying brazilian?
Haha! Yes, it was hot indeed. :D
DeleteThat was how I started. My first time was actually in another waxing salon, where my therapist initially did a bikini wax, then asked me if I could carry on with a Brazilian. I prefer the latter since I feel cleaner that way. Do try it sometime! :)
will do, I just need to gather some courage haha!
DeleteGo Chysa! :D
DeleteThe parlour's interiors look great!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'm just a little bit worried with the 'hot' wax. It might be too hot for me. :|

Pink Parlour looks so chic! As for the hot wax, for any discomfort, you must never hesitate to inform your therapist. They can adjust the heat settings for you. I personally prefer warm wax to hot wax, though.
DeleteI'm afraid of hard wax because it sticks to skin, doesn't it? I'd prefer sugar wax. I've read horror stories of women going for a Brazilian and having skin stripped off down there! O____O
ReplyDeleteI love the cat theme of this place!
Woah! I didn't know about that! Maybe that's the very reason why my therapist applied baby powder on me so the wax won't stick to my skin.
DeleteAs for Pink Parlour, you don't have to worry about that. My skin is still soft and smooth. :)
I love the pink kitten theme as well, so chic!
hi there, hard wax does't stick to your skin at all, it only stick to the hair that's why its almost painless unlike regular wax that other salons use. baby powder was used to make it more smoother before the wax is pulled. Hard wax is advisable for sensitive skin and pink parlour only uses hard wax from Australia.
Deletebeen needing this service for two years now...right after i gave birth but never had the chance due to time constraints and most especially distance...agree this place looks so posh..but preferably i would have want it a lil lighter in terms of color theme parang lingerie party ang dating or maybe its just me :-) but very drawn in terms of sanitazation...i like it when you say it cant and if i may add it may NEVER be pain-free but its something youd be lookin for once you get the hang of it :-)
ReplyDeleteExactly! The pain will always be there but it diminishes the more often you wax. Once you go Brazilian, you'd want to maintain it at it's clean and smooth state as much as possible. As for the theme, Pink Parlour does also offers their services for parties and girly get-togethers.
DeleteSo nice that you are posting these kinds of reviews, Helen! Brazilian waxes are not that popular here because you know how modest we Pinays tend to be. Hay, I've been wanting to get one but I can't get over the hurdle of being shy *face palm*. But I find your BW reviews very helpful, konting self-convincing na lang I want to go for it na :)
ReplyDeletePinays are conservative that way, but I am all for trying out new things. :) Some people do Brazilian wax also for personal hygiene, which is a very valid reason if you ask me. It feels liberating and clean, and once you try it out, you'd get over your shyness. The therapist I've talked to have actually lost count on how many they've waxed, so for them it's just like a normal day at work. Haha :D
Deletehaven't tried any waxing before...and maybe not yet in the near future :P
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why, Arya? It's worth a try at least once. ;)
DeleteI've tried to have my nail polish there. The entire place was soooo cute :">
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried their nail services yet but I would love to! I love how pink and posh this place is. :)
DeleteHi.. have you also tried brazilian wax at lay bare? Which one is better? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI've tried it at Lay Bare but they don't use gloves! For me, Pink Parlour is better compared to Lay Bare, but at almost double the price.
