Snoe Torrid & Magic Beso Balm Reviews

I have to review these Snoe Lip Treatments (fancy name for lip balm) before I declutter my beauty stash. I initially didn't plan on reviewing them anymore since my experience was meh, but found these photos in my file so here goes. 😂

Snoe Magic Beso Balm Color Changing Lip Treatment

Snoe Torrid Beso Balm Sizzling Lip Treatment

Each lip balm costs a whopping P399 per stick, and the only reason I bought them was because they were on a buy 1 get 1 promo. So I got 2 for P399, but realized later that it was still expensive.

First of all, Snoe's packaging is really catchy. Snoe's Torrid Beso Balm boasts of cinnamint, chili, and 3x the breath fresheners. I love all things minty, and was so curious at how minty or spicy this could go.

As a minty lip balm, it was okay but I wasn't pleased with the condition of the product I got. I remember there were 3 stocks of this left on the shelf, but all were unsealed.

I got the freshest stock manufactured 2018 as the other 2 were manufactured 2017.

When I got home, the top layer of the product itself looked slightly curved, like it was already swatched. I didn't have it exchanged anymore since on my next visit, it was already out of stock. So I just sliced off the top layer and used it.

Ingredients

This lip balm worked okay for me. It wasn't drying or irritating despite being very minty. I like it, but I disliked that the seal was flimsy. I use this mainly at night as it had no tint and I also use this to remove my lipstick at the end of the day.

On to the next!

I'm a sucker for color-changing makeup. HUHU! This one I had bought in good condition. It was a fresh stock then and not expired, as I bought these 2018.

Swatches:

The balm is yellow, but it turns hot pink on the lips. No need for lipstick, and even if the balm wears off, it leaves a pretty pink tint. I was so happy with this lip balm but my happiness was short lived. One month after I bought it, the yummy minty bubble gum smell and taste soon started to taste bitter. I keep my makeup well and wipe them from time to time, and I do NOT retouch when my lips are dirty/oily with food. Not sure if it's really like this or it's just a bad batch. I contacted them then, but they just read my message and never replied. 😕 I've been using Snoe stuff since 2011, and it's the first time I'm so dissatisfied with their products. And so, I haven't bought any more Snoe products since.

Currently loving my In Her Element Nourishing Cocoa Balm, but I'll save that for another post. 💋

Going back to an old favorite: Snoe Mini Haul

Snoe's on a grand sale this month, and this time it's HUGE: buy 1 get 1 on selected products! 😍
 

I don't really need to buy shampoo or conditioner since I already have more than enough backups at home, but I just really missed Snoe's Hair Heroes. And it's on buy 1 get 1, how could anyone resist?

My colleagues and I dropped by Snoe at SM North and we just restocked on our favorite variant of Hair Heroes Intense Cleansing Conditioner (P699 for 2 bottles until July 31). I used it today, and I'm back to my happy, bouncy waves! Weee! 😁

I haven't finished my tiny tub of Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips yet, but I also missed the tingly minty feel of the classic version of Beso Balm (P199 for 2 tubes until July 31), so this one's also a repurchase. The other tube one didn't make it in the group shot since it's already in my colleague's makeup kit.

Snoe Hair Heoes Amplify

When I ran out of conditioner, I immediately thought of dropping by my favorite Snoe kiosk in Landmark Trinoma. I have tried and liked Snoe Hair Heroes Intense Argan Oil before, but since I was in constant battle with hair fall, I chose to go with the Amplify for now. (And also, so I would have another product for review!)

Increase hair density for thinning hair

Snoe Hair Heroes Amplify is a 5-in-1 product that you can use for the following purposes:

• Cleansing Conditioner
• After shampoo conditioning rinse
• Scalp rub-on overnight treatment
• Deep treatment creme
• Leave-on detangler

Ingredients:

At the base of the packaging, you'll find the manufacturing and expiry date. This one has a shelf life of 3 years, typical of most hair care products.

Pros:

• The packaging looks nice.
• The product smells sweet and clean.
• It has a thick and creamy texture; a little goes a long way.
• Since it's free from sulfates, this one won't fade my hair color and make my wavy hair frizzy.
• I wash my hair twice (in the AM before I go to work and in the PM when I return home), so my hair is already abused as it is. Usually, I shampoo at night and condition in the morning. On some days, I use Hair Heroes Amplify at night as a cleansing conditioner, and I don't feel guilty since I am cleaning and conditioning it in one go.*
• For me, this only works as an after shampoo conditioning rinse. This works like a regular conditioner, and I haven't tried using it as a leave on product or shaving cream.

Cons:

• Though the pump packaging is convenient to use, it's hard to work with when you come to the last few drops of the product. It's hard to get the product out so you'd have to store it upside down or dilute it with water.
• I mentioned above that I use this as a cleansing conditioner, but only during my lazy days. I can't use this alone consecutively, or else I'll have product buildup and my scalp/hair will feel oily. (Example, my bangs would look oily and flat.)
• It didn't minimize my hair fall problem. Other hair care products I've tried that didn't promise to reduce hair fall worked even better than this.
• It's pricey. It's even more expensive than the best-selling variant, Snoe Hair Heroes Intense Argan Oil.

Will I repurchase? No.

I love Snoe, but this is the first product I've tried from them that didn't wow me. Since it's already this pricey, I would rather repurchase Snoe Hair Heroes Intense Argan Oil (if I'm trying to save money) or just go for Kiehl's Amino Acid Conditioner (which is just a bit over P1,000.00 but has amazing results).

HD makeup are on the rise lately. One that's wildly popular is Make Up For Ever HD Powder (which is heaven-sent especially for makeup artists), but I'll share with you one that's more affordable, locally made, and works just as well!

About the product:

• Translucent powder
• Matte finish
• Blurs skin imperfections and pores

You'll be glad to know that this product is dermatologist tested, and free from talc, fragrance, paraben, and oil.

How to use:

I love using BB creams and liquid foundations, but I have oily skin so setting it with powder is a must. Whenever I'm experiencing breakouts, I try to skip makeup so I just use my moisturizer with SPF and top it off with this, since I'd still want to keep my face matte and I'm confident that this product won't further aggravate my skin.

I love how Snoe packages their product, and this is no exception. This look of this one actually reminds me of Benefit! The only thing I don't like is that the powder finds its way of spilling/seeping out of the packaging when you bring this around in your bag, no matter how tightly you close it.

It comes with a mini powder puff which I don't use. Even if you won't use the puff, don't remove it as this helps to lessen the powder spillage.

The sifter is detachable, so you can easily transfer the product to an even smaller container for when you travel.

Snoe Poudre Phenomenon Pore Erasing HD Powder comes in 2 shades: white and lemon (new shade). The one I have is the white shade they've originally released - similar to Make Up For Ever HD Powder.

Snoe Rouge Deluxe Complete Lip Care in x8 Chili Pepper

Pros:

• It can be used to set liquid foundation and/or to retouch your makeup during the day.
• It's completely translucent. The white shade of this HD powder brightens the skin and adapts to every skin tone/foundation shade. It won't change the existing shade you're wearing.
• The powder has a super finely-milled texture, and your skin will feel super smooth after application. Guaranteed!
• It keeps my skin matte for a longer period of time compared to other powders I've used before.
• It blurs the appearance of imperfections and large pores, giving the appearance of smooth, poreless skin.
• On lazy days, this one can just be used on bare skin for oil control.
• It does not cause breakouts, and yet it helps battle breakouts. Amazing!

Cons:

• Some of the powder can seep out of the container if it gets moved around in your bag or kit, even if the lid is tightly closed.

Tip:

• I use a fluffy powder brush to apply this one. Application is easier that way, compared to using the puff that's included in the packaging.

Will I repurchase? Yes! This is a product regular girls (like me!) and makeup artists would appreciate.

I've mentioned before that I don't like makeup in loose powder form since I hate the mess, but I love this one, so I don't mind at all. Don't be intimidated by the price tag, even if this is a locally-made product. It's affordable considering the quality of the product, which is at par with other more expensive brands.

Here's another roundup on the stuff that I've emptied for the past 3 months! I actually missed doing posts like this, but it's just now that I finally had the time to sort out the stuff that was lying in my drawer.

June to August 2013 Empties

I could only wish to empty more of my makeup, but all you'll see for now are hair care, skincare, and body care products, and then some little extras. Here goes!

• Repurchase? No, it's not moisturizing enough.

• Repurchase? Yes, it's cheap but it works perfectly.

4. Etude House Happy Teatime Green Tea Cleansing Foam

• Repurchase? Yes, this one keeps my skin clear. I get pimples/whiteheads/rashes from experimenting with other facial washes, so I always go back to this one.

• Repurchase? Yes, for the new formula!

• Repurchase? Yes. My face still gets shiny by midday when I use this, but since it doesn't cause me any breakouts, I'm fine with it!

• Repurchase? Yes, if it's on sale.

• Repurchase? Yes, it's lightweight and I love the floral scent.

9. Bobbie Nail Polish Remover

• Repurchase? No, I don't like the scent of this.

10. L'Oreal Paris Lash Serum

• Repurchase? No, it doesn't work.
• This one is not empty, but it's expired hence I had to toss it out.

11. Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Stick in #3 Sweet & Sour Lemon Candy

• Repurchase? Yes, but I think it's limited edition.

Snoe Star Night Star Bright Night Perfecting Toner (New Formula)

Snoe Star Night Star Bright Night Perfecting Toner has been keeping my skin clear for over a year. I loved it so much that I've used up about 6 bottles of the old version. (Don't worry, I am an addict since each bottle is really small!) Then, it got discontinued for a short while to make way for a new version.

NEW Snoe Star Night Star Bright Night Perfecting Toner (P249.00)

About the Product:

Same as the old version, it promises 6 skincare benefits: anti-aging, whitening, anti-acne, exfoliating, pore refining, and spot remover. This toner contains mulberry (as antioxidant) and acai berry (to boost collagen levels), but now with additional ingredients such as maca root (to add radiance, suppleness, and vitality), and retinol (to prevent and treat acne).

Let's compare the 2 versions of this toner:

Same bottle, different label.

• I hope Snoe would come up with a bigger bottle of this. That would be more convenient than buying a small one every now and then.
• The new packaging now indicates how much product is actually inside the small bottle, which is 50ml. (Finally, it's not a mystery anymore!)
• The new bottle is still not sealed. However, it does include a ribbon and a paper tag (see the first photo) indicating the skincare benefits of the product.

The manufacturing and expiry date is now indicated on the label.

Ingredients:

More ingredients in the new version.

I now spot Ethyl Alcohol listed second on the ingredients list of the new one. The old one has no alcohol listed, despite it's strong scent.

Price:

Old version: P179.00 for 50ml

New version: P249.00 for 50ml

Considered as pricey, when you think about it. It this were in a regular big-sized bottle (of 150ml), it would already cost around P750.00.

Pros:

• It prevents acne from forming.

I use this every night after my facial wash. I commit the crime of not moisturizing at night, but it works for me!

• It treats existing pimples. 

Spot treat areas that need special attention (like those pimples that say hello) by leaving a piece of cotton (with this toner) on your skin for several minutes. It dries up the pimple faster. 

• When I feel a pimple about to form, I also spot treat with this toner, and most of the time, the pimple doesn't emerge full blown anymore. (However, it's not a sure thing anymore, unlike the previous formula.) 
•  It does not cause any skin peeling on my oily skin, except when I spot treat, since that way, you concentrate the product on an area, which is bound to be drying.
• My skin feels fresh and thoroughly cleansed after every use. This toner will remove everything your facial wash wasn't able to catch, without giving you that tight and dry feeling.
• My skin always looks brighter and fresher the morning after.

Cons:

• It has a strong alcohol scent which I hate.
• It gives a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds, when applied on broken skin (AKA the pimples you just picked at).
• It doesn't seem to make my pores appear smaller.
• If you're looking for an oil-control toner, this is not it since I still wake up with a bit of sheen on my face.
• You can only use this at night. It has retinol that can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

After the old version got discontinued, I've actually tried switching to another milder toner (without alcohol, but also without salicylic acid) for review, but my face started to develop small whiteheads/rashes all over my cheeks and a bit on my forehead. Bad move. What can I say? My face loves (or is dependent on) salicylic acid! Then, I realized that I won't use anything else but Snoe's toner. While it takes longer now for my acne/rashes to heal (compared to the old version, which seemed to work better for me), I'm still going to use this since it still works on improving my skin, slowly but surely.

Will I repurchase? Yes.
