The truth behind Kabaya Collagen 10000 Gummy

Today I'll be sharing with you the truth behind Kabaya Collagen 10000 Gummy. It's not that the brand lied or anything, but this product is being marketed by numerous online stores, claiming that each gummy contains 10,000 mg of collagen. Of course, I bought a pack to try out of curiosity!

At first bite, I immediately thought that 10,000 mg of collagen per gummy was too good to be true as it tastes so delicious - just like a normal fruity candy!

My day job involves fact checking and investigating, and so I was able to use some of the skills I've learned to come up with this post.

Kabaya Collagen 10000 Gummy is made in Japan. Based on their company website, the company was established in 1946, and some of their products include chocolate, fizzy candy, gummy, healthy snacks, candy, baked sweets, and candy with toy.
The exact English product description of the Kabaya Collagen 10000 Gummy, as per the company website:

"It is a gummy that you can intake 10,000 mg of collagen as well as Hyaluronic acid in one product. You can enjoy 3 flavors; grape, lemon and peach. It is an individual packaging convenient to share among your friends."

So there, the description is kind of vague, but the company never mentioned that the 10,000 mg of collagen is per piece.

I checked the back of the packaging. The descriptions are in Japanese, so I used both Google Translate app and website to check.

Source: Google Translate app (Please see highlighted part.)

My language skill was tested, but here it is:
  • コラーゲン10000mg入り. (1袋170g(個包装込み)当たり)
  • Contains 10000 mg of collagen. (Per 170 g per bag (including individual packaging))

If each pack of Kabaya Collagen 10000 Gummy contains 170 g, and each piece is approximately 4.7 g, then each pack would contain approximately 36.17 pieces of gummy. (My own pack contained 38 pieces!)

So 10,000 mg of collagen per bag divided by 36.17 pieces = approximately 276.47 mg of collagen per gummy. It's not 10,000 mg per gummy.

The gummy candies are individually packed and they come in lemon, grape, and peach flavors. They taste really good, in fact, too good for a collagen product, hence the investigating I did. Each gummy contains approximately 276.47 mg of collagen, which is high considering it's a candy you can enjoy and eat for fun, but don't expect drastic changes on your skin with these. I've already eaten 18 pieces of these and I will still repurchase as I have a sweet tooth and if I'm going to eat sweets, better make it count by eating something with possible beauty benefits.

The only side effect I noticed, after eating 3 pieces in a row, was I got sleepy. I didn't breakout from this nor did I get an upset stomach.

Remember, if what you read is too good to be true, it most probably is. Be careful and extend due diligence to the things that you consume.

UPDATE: You may purchase this for PHP 209 per pack from Tokyo To You in Lazada. This is my go to shop for Japanese snacks! 💙

Love,
Helen

Review & Swatches: In Her Element Butterlips Conditioning Color

It's time for In Her Element #ButterlipsParty! 💋

Say hello to my new WFH lippies! In Her Element Butterlips Conditioning Color hydrates the lips with juicy and lush color. 🥰

The shades are named after Filipino folklore goddesses.

The upper swatches are Butterlips Conditioning Color in full application, while the lower swatches are blotted with tissue for a matte finish. (This is the tint the lip balm leaves when the balmy layer wears off.)

✨ Tala - a pinkish plum, named after the goddess of the stars. Among the three, Tala is the most wearable and natural-looking shade on me. I loved this instantly, as it's the usual shade of berry that I gravitate towards. My most used lipsticks are of this color family.

🌙 Mayari - a muted clay brown, named after the goddess of the moon. Mayari surprisingly looks coral on me. I love the 90s brown lip, but this doesn't look brown on me at all.

☀️ Hanan - a bright coral with salmon pink tone, named after the goddess of the morning. What a surprise! I didn't think Hanan would work on me, but it does live up to its claim brightening up the face instantly. Among the three shades, M says this looks best on me. It makes me look alive, even when the rest of my face is bare.

Pros:
✔️ It glides on your lips like a buttery lip balm with its smooth, melting texture.
✔️ It colors your lips like a lipstick.
✔️ It leaves a hardworking tint that makes your lips look healthy even as the balm wears off.

Cons:
❌ Because of its buttery texture, don't twist the balm all the way up as it may not go back down. I had to manually push Tala down after application.
❌ For the OC: The transparent cap can catch some of the product as you put it back on even if you're careful, so it may look messy.

Price: PHP 345 each
Promo: Buy 2 Butterlips Conditioning Color (for PHP 690) and get a free Nourishing Cocoa Balm at inherelement.ph 💗

Fet Boys Prettier Than Pink Cookies

Fet Boys Prettier Than Pink Cookies are made with RUBY CHOCOLATES! 😍

These cookies are gorgeous and are made with bittersweet and super moist dark chocolate cookie dough filled with dark, white, and ruby chocolates - hence the pastel pink tone!

Regular Prettier Than Pink Cookies

Ruby chocolate taste like white chocolate with hints of raspberry. So yummy!!!

Giant Prettier Than Pink Cookies

Their giant cookie is bigger than my hand! 😆 And I already though that their regular-sized cookie was chubby! This cookie is  so THICK and indeed filled with chocolates, they're almost like brownies! Yup, they're that chewy! The center has a cookie-dough texture that I love. The giant ones are triple in size and are sure to impress! 💯

The dark cookie dough gives it a delightful bittersweet base, the chocolate chips give it sweetness that's just right, the ruby chocolates give it a tart, berry taste, and the cookies are sprinkled with a bit of salt as finishing touch.

Best part, a dozen of the regular-sized cookies are competitively priced at PHP 480. Seriously, it's such a good deal for top quality cookies. I won't say they're just "hindi tinipid", as they're BEYOND GENEROUS with the chocolates inside their cookie. They're not just sprinkled with chocolates, they're full of chocolates. I cannot emphasize it enough!

I did a review on their cookies last month. I liked it so much, so last Valentine's Day, I ordered this box of Fet Boys cookies for the BF (and another one for myself LOL). My love language is gifting, and I will give only the best to my loved ones! 😉

Fet Boys ships from Las Pinas and also Kamuning, Quezon City (on weekday mornings).
Love,
Helen
