Etude House CC Cream in #01 Silky

Early this year, Etude House launched their newest CC creams in the market, which came in 2 variants: #01 Silky and #02 Glow.

Though I haven't tried the #02 Glow variant, based from the photo above, #01 Silky has a matte finish (ideal for oily skin) and #02 Glow has a moist finish (ideal for dry skin). I'm thinking, the 02# Glow variant has a finish similar to Tony Moly's Pure Aura CC Cream.

Ingredients:

Packaging:

It comes in a handy, slim, squeezy tube packaging which I really like. It's compact, and it doesn't take up a lot of space in my kit. It's also hygienic, and I will know when I'm about to run out of product at once with this.

The manufacturing date is indicated on the crimp of the tube. Mine reads "20130226". This CC cream will last for 12 months upon opening.

Texture/Swatch:

Etude House's CC Cream is made with a "Magic Layering Capsule" technology. Upon application, you'd see and feel the color capsules containing mineral color pigments that burst upon contact with the skin. It is initially white, but matches with the skin upon blending.

This CC cream starts out as white, but it turns out to have a pinkish undertone. (A more yellow base would suit Asian skintones better.)

When worn:

My body and limbs may be yellowish white, but my face was built in with a pinkish tone so I guess this is the reason why I am fine with the outcome of this CC cream. This finish is more ideal for those with fair skin. (In the photo above, I am wearing the CC cream alone, no blush).

Etude House CC Cream in #01 Silky has a semi-matte finish with still a little dewy-ness peeking through, while Tony Moly Pure Aura Luminous CC Cream has that full-on moist and dewy finish. (Oh, by the way, I am also wearing Etude House Color Pop Shine Tint here!)

Pros:
  • The packaging is nice and simple, but also hygienic and functional at the same time.
  • The manufacturing date is indicated on the tube.
  • It has SPF 30/PA++.
  • The formula looks and smells like lotion.
  • Texture is a bit thicker (than Tony Moly's), but it's not hard to blend.
  • It has a semi-matte finish, ideal for oily skin.
  • It has no shimmer, nor does it look moist.
  • The formula feels moisturizing on the skin.
  • It covers my large pores.
  • It corrects minor redness/blotchiness of the skin.
  • It gives my skin a brightened look. It has that no-makeup finish, but is definitely better than no makeup!

Cons:
  • It has a sheer coverage.
  • While it has a matte finish, oil control is just average.

Will I repurchase? Maybe. I like this one, but I still want to try and review other CC creams.
Price: P798.00 for 35g
Available in all Etude House stores/department store kiosks nationwide.

I like it when skincare is blended into makeup, and vice versa! It saves us precious time, and yet we get to look good in a pinch. While CC creams are getting popular recently, they're still down by a level when it comes to coverage compared to BB creams, but what I love about CC creams is that they lean more on the skincare aspect, yet still manage to correct minor skin imperfections along the way.
