Haircut at bench/ Fix Salon

I haven't been to the salon in months because I am growing my hair long. I've always seen bench/ Fix Salons in Trinoma, but have never had a haircut there before since it's always full and I hate waiting. On a Friday afternoon, I walked in there by impluse and scheduled for a haircut. I got there by 1:30PM, and was booked for the 3:00PM slot because of their full schedule. (See, they're even full during weekdays, so they must be that good!) Since I had to do some Christmas shopping, I was a-okay with the schedule.

I return to the salon past 3:00PM and had to wait for about 5 minutes until I was called for shampoo. My stylist was Roy, and he asked what style I wanted for my hair. Since I had wavy/curly hair, I still wanted to keep the length, but just add lots of layers and some side bangs. He did exactly what I wanted - and more!

Roy asked me what finish I wanted for my hair - whether to blowdry it straight or to use a diffuser for a curly finish. Finally - a salon that is friendly to curly hair! Of course, I chose to let the natural texture of my hair out so I opted for the latter.

He asked his assistant to apply mouse on my hair and dry it using a hairdryer with an attached diffuser. Afterwards, he did some finishing touches on my bangs by cutting it further, and applied some wax to hold my bangs.

The result: lots of layers and curly hair that looked digi-permed - but they're all natural (except for the color)! I've never loved my naturally-curly hair like this before!

I have been to salons before that would blowdry my hair straight after the haircut. After my hair was dry, it still had some stubborn fly-aways because it's really hard to fight my hair's natural texture, so they flat-ironed it straight. I ended up with straight but dry, crispy hair - not beautiful at all.

I'm glad to have tried having my first haircut at bench/ Fix Salon, and I'm coming back here again for sure! Next time around, I'll call ahead and book for an appointment for less waiting time.

  3. The last time I went to a Bench Fix Salon, they're almost closing and no one's there na. So I think I'm lucky I didn't wait for an hour or so. :)
