Makeover: The Body Shop Way (Featuring the NEW Tea Tree Pore Minimiser & Lily Cole Makeup)

One fine way to end the workweek was to attend the skin care consultation and makeover at The Body Shop. They hold free events like this for their Love Your Body Members often, so when you receive an SMS invite from your nearest The Body Shop branch, do confirm and attend! I love attending these workshops because it's where I learned most of the makeup tricks I use everyday.

Yesterday, I went to their SM North EDSA branch after work to try out their newest product, the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, and to play with the Lily Cole makeup. As usual, their makeovers would start with the basic skincare routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, plus a tiny dab of eye cream. Then on to the star product of the night, which was the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser (P795.00)

The new Tea Tree Pore Minimiser is part of the best-selling Tea Tree range of The Body Shop. It's perfect for those with oily and blemished skin, as it instantly mattifies the skin and softens the look of enlarged pores. This product is clinically proven to reduce pore size in 4 weeks, but I have yet to test it out for a longer period of time before I give a more detailed review.

My first impressions with this product is that it did make my skin look matte and fresh instantly, with a smooth and velvety feel. It feels light on the face, as if I had nothing on. (But I could still see my pores.) This made my makeup last longer and made my face look shine-free for a good 6 hours. Plus, I like the idea of it being infused with Community Fair Trade organic tea tree oil - which is the ultimate zit buster!

Regular price of the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser is at P795. Now offered at P200 off. Love Your Body members get additional 10% member bonus!

During the workshop, I also got to learn the 5-Step Face Massage technique that we could all use at night after applying skincare products to help the skin absorb the products more effectively and relax us at the same time.

Now, off to my favorite part - makeup time! On the table was the complete collection of the limited edition Lily Cole cruelty-free makeup. I find this range to be the prettiest and most youthful makeup collection released by The Body Shop. This makeover was like a mini-workshop, where the makeup artist would guide you step-by-step as you put on the makeup by yourself. This is a great way to learn, since you get to try it firsthand. For this makeover, we did the fresh and natural day look.

I learned from the workshop that I could mix BB cream together with the Lily Cole Pearl Radiance Primer. (I used to apply the primer first before layering a BB Cream over it.) It's such a time-saver, especially during mornings when we have to rush to work.

Next up - eye makeup! I have the same Lily Cole Shimmer Cubes at home, but I don't know how to work with dark eye shadows so I always end up just using the 2 light shades (Live Lilac and Tint it Pink). Roma of The Body Shop taught me how to work with the darker shades, and I'm so happy that I could now maximize the use of all the cubes!

For a natural day look, use Tint it Pink (bottom) as a base, then Think Pink (top) from the lash line up to the crease. For a purple smokey eye look during nighttime, use Live Lilac (bottom) all over the lids as base, then apply Go Violet (top) from the lash line up to the crease. This technique works so well for chinita eyes like mine.

For beginners, Roma recommended The Body Shop Smudger Brush as eyeshadow applicator, because it's easier to control this than using a brush.

For this look, I applied Tint It Pink all over my eye area, then Think Pink on my lids. I never thought that the intimidating reddish block on my palette could look peachy and subtle when worn. The Lily Cole Liquid Eyeliner added a fresh touch to the look. Purple eyeliner looks fun and more youthful than the usual black eyeliner that I am used to.

To add a pop of color on my cheeks and lips, I used Lily Cole's favorite piece from the entire range, which is the Lip & Cheek Dome (cream-to-powder color for cheeks and lips)! I have the Crazy for Coral at home, so I tried out the Pinch Me Pink shade for a change. I find that the pink one is brighter and more pigmented than the peach shade. Crazy for Coral is sheer and peachy, and it might not show up much on deeper skin tones.

The finishing touch was a light dusting of the Lily Cole Puff On Radiance. See the pretty little beads? They add a touch of shimmer on your face (and decolletage)!

This was the result of the makeover - just the natural day look that I could wear everyday at work. No oilies spotted; just fresh, matte skin thanks to the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser!

Makeover: Accomplished!

Pretty cupcakes and drinks were served after the workshop!

Lovely ladies unite! I got to meet new faces tonight, and that's always fun!
