Purrfect day at Pink Parlour (OPI Manicure + Brazilian Wax + Boudoir Lotions)

The cutie pink kitties at Pink Parlour wanted me to have a grand afternoon yesterday! This is one thing I love about my fun (yet fleeting) student life - language school in the morning and stress-free afternoons! My choir mate mentioned that I seemed happier, the staff at Pink Parlour said I've finally gained weight (in a good way, since she's a witness of my super skinny state around 2 years ago). :D
 

I dropped by their SM North EDSA The Block branch once more for some me-time. This is my go-to place for Brazilian wax because they get the job done in 15 minutes! :o
 

My cuticles were so dry because of doing the laundry so I had an OPI Manicure done, which included shape, cuticle groom, and paint.

 

I usually pick red, but decided I wanted a nude look this time. Who am I kidding? In the end, I chose the mysteriously beautiful shade Kermit Me To Speak, a duochrome shade! I can't pinpoint the exact color of this, sometimes it looks like gold, rose gold, olive, pink, and purple foil at different angles. It's so pretty and I'm skipping my laundry because of this. Haha :D

As usual, I had another Brazilian Wax done. I've honestly lost count how many times I've had this done already. The last one I had was 10 weeks ago so regrowth was sparse. The procedure was almost painless, and we were really done in around 15 minutes or a few seconds less. AMAZING.

My skin isn't the most sensitive, so I used to just skip the aftercare products. I wouldn't wet the area for 4 hours, no hot baths, and I'd  exfoliate after 3 days. But still, ingrown bumps happen. :/ 

Yesterday, I was introduced to Pink Parlour Boudoir products AKA something I should've used ages ago to prevent all the ingrowns that have come and gone. These lotions are made to care for your skin after waxing. They are Australian made and aren't tested on animals.

On a side note, Kitty always has a different look every time I drop by. I'm loving her classy makeunder. She used to have tons of clips, then a tiara, then this giant bow. You can check my previous Pink Parlour posts here. ;)

Pink Parlour Boudoir Smooth Bump Freedom Lotion (P950)

The Smooth Bump Freedom Lotion eases the discomfort of waxing and most importantly - retards hair growth! It's gentle, lightweight, and unscented. It contains macadamia and jojoba seed oils to moisturize the skin. It can be used on the legs, chest, and back, too! Use 1 day after waxing, and daily for 2 weeks.

Pink Parlour Boudoir Soothe Calm Protect Lotion (P750)

Calm Protect Lotion is the one they use on me after waxing to remove sticky wax residue and also to soothe and reduce redness. It's so gentle and it never stings. It contains a high amount of macadamia seed oil to moisturize and tea tree leaf oil, which comes third on the ingredients list. Tea tree oil is antimicrobial, so it fights ingrown hair and inhibits the formation of pustules. This lotion is fragrance-free, but it does have the naturally strong scent of tea tree oil similar to the scent of The Body Shop's tea tree skincare range. The Calm Protect Lotion is very versatile, as you can also use it as a manicure and pedicure treatment, and to soothe itchiness brought about by skin irritations and insect bites (something I am in dire need of right now). You can use this twice daily together with the Bump Freedom Lotion.

I tried the Calm Protect Lotion just now on 2 fresh and itchy mosquito bites, and IT WORKS! No more itchiness. ♥

Tip: Save P200 when you get both lotions. No more bumps and ingrown hair! :D

 

I also got to meet fabulous Niño of Pink Parlour for the first time, after countless emails for over 3 years already. I'm so happy! Thank you for the fun and chill afternoon. :D

The procedure took around 1-1.5 hours for both my hands and feet. Regular polish stays on prettily on my hands for 3 days max before they start to chip. My Gellish Manicure lasted me 2 weeks before I couldn't stand the regrowth, so I had them removed then. My Gellish Pedicure lasted me 1 solid month though, and is still chip-free and going strong. Amazing! :D

[CLOSED] Manicure & Paraffin at Pink Parlour + GIVEAWAY!

When Friday rolls in, everybody seems to be in a happy, chipper mood! We live for the weekend, huh? :D

Where I work, I'm in front of the computer 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, typing away 'til there's no tomorrow. Sounds boring? Wait 'til you hear this: When I go home, I'm almost always in front of the computer, too, typing away on my blog. LOL. My hands definitely need some pampering!

Just yesterday, I went to Pink Parlour in SM North ESDA after work for a Royalty Treatment. My weekend pampering started here, where I had a Manicure + Paraffin. I said started, since today I just had new lash extensions done, plus haircut and hair treatment. (It's so fun being a girl! Haha)

Stepping into this place really makes me happy. I love Pink Parlour's girly theme with the bright walls and pink accents. Also, check out their wall of nail polishes! :D

My throne! :D

It was my first time to try a hand paraffin treatment. (My nails were cleaned and shaped before the paraffin, to prep it for the manicure that would follow.) This treatment is a luxurious add-on to the normal manicure we usually get. Not only is it able to make our hands softer, it also serves as a heat therapy that relaxes sore and tired muscles.

Each hand was dipped thrice into the melted wax, which immediately solidified.

After that, each hand was wrapped in plastic and towel to let the wax set (for about 10-15 minutes). At this time, the wax works its skin-softening magic on my super dry hands.

And now the fun part! When the wax has dried up, they'd pull it off like gloves. It looks as if my hands were peeling/molting. Eww! :D

Ta-da! Soft and smooth hands. No sign of stress or tiredness here!

After that was the most difficult part - choosing what color among all the bottles on their shelf. I spotted Tony Moly, China Glaze, OPI, etc. Some even had sand texture, while others have the cracked effect (which I am not a big fan of).

In the end, I went for China Glaze in Lubu Heels. It's black with red shimmers, inspired by Christian Louboutin heels (in the classic black pumps with red soles). My photo doesn't do the shade justice; it looks black indoors but it looks totally awesome when light hits it.

Half-Leg Waxing at Pink Parlour

Last Friday, I went back to Pink Parlour in SM North EDSA The Block for another waxing treatment. Aside from the usual Brazilian, I also had a half-leg wax, something I'm doing for the very first time here.

As usual, cute kitty is ever present in each private treatment room.

Waxing Half-Leg

Uses quality strip wax for super efficient and fast waxing. Different formulations are available to suite different skin type and hair needs including hypoallergenic formulation. No breakage or sticky residue! Half Leg waxes from above the knee to toes.

For the half-leg wax, a different kind of wax was used. (Not the usual pink hard wax.) It was a soft kind of dark blue wax, wherein seconds after application, a strip of cloth was used to remove the wax (together with the hair). It's painless, and it took only around 5 minutes or so for both my legs. (Disclaimer: I'm not really hairy to begin with; I just wanted it to look perfect.)

The result: Soft, smooth, and shiny hair-free legs! I could get used to this. My skin felt a lot smoother because the dead skin cells that resemble scales (yuck) all got exfoliated when the wax was pulled away from the skin.

Pink Parlour, Revisited!

Who would get intimidated with a waxing parlor as posh as this?

Not me, definitely! Since I missed Pink Parlour's Hair Free Day at their A.Venue branch last month, I dropped by their branch in SM North EDSA The Block instead. It's my 6th Brazilian, so nothing can scare me now. Haha!

What I look for in a waxing salon is the cleanliness, and I am glad that Pink Parlour delivers that. Their tools are sterilized, the station sanitized, and absolutely no double-dipping!

When I revisited Pink Parlour and went on with the procedure, this time around everything was...better. The warmth of the wax was just right, and I didn't worry about it burning my skin. Same as before, the therapist would place a small amount of wax on the area, wait for it to harden/solidify, and yank it off together with the hair. It wasn't totally pain free, as I don't think there will ever be a pain-free Brazilian. There were some moments when I thought why oh why I was subjecting myself to this, but the result was definitely worth it. My skin is so soft, smooth, and clean all over. No pain, no gain! But then, it's very tolerable. No need for any pain killers or whatever. This time around, the entire procedure lasted just around 15 minutes, tops!

Happy and hair-free! :D

The staff in Pink Parlour SM North EDSA are also very friendly and accommodating.

No awkward factor here!

Overall, I'm happy with the service I had with Pink Parlour. Would definitely visit this place again for my waxing needs. I just hope they also host a Hair Free Day here! I'd be the first person in line for sure. :D

Pink Parlour Brazilian Wax

When planning for a beach trip, a Brazilian wax is in order! I believe that the universe conspired to give me exactly what I needed when I received an invite from Pink Parlour to try out their award-winning Brazilian wax. How could I say no to baby smooth, hair-free skin?

Pink Parlour currently has 3 branches: SM North EDSA, A. Venue, and SM Center Pasig. The branch that was closest to me was SM North EDSA, which is so convenient for me since I pass by this place almost everyday.

Pink Parlour is located on the 5th level of SM North EDSA The Block. You'll see their super pink, super girly, and super dainty facade just across the escalator so it's impossible to miss.

The waiting area was posh, but I wish it could have been more private. The waiting area was directly facing the outside, where the escalators are. Perhaps a little glass frosting would be a nice touch.

On the counter was this cute little pink kitty! She's the most kikay kitty I've seen. A less kikay version of the same kitty is in each treatment room for hugging purposes. (You'll know why if you've had a wax before - it makes the pain more bearable.)

Pink Parlour has a nail parlour with 6 soft chairs for nail treatments that are fit for royalty.

What I like about Pink Parlour is their high regards for safety and sanitization, which means peace of mind for each of their clients. They go by their Superior Sanitization promise as an assurance for their commitment to give the most sanitary service available.

• UV sterilization kills 99.99% virus & bacteria
• Protection sanitization bags for all tools
• No double dipping
• Use of Karcher hot steamer to disinfect sinks & showers

Upon arrival, I was handed a towel and led to the shower area for a quick rinse. Then I proceeded to a private room for my main purpose of having a Brazilian wax. The last time I've had one was just a month ago, hence regrowth wasn't a biggie (yet). I was told that the more often you wax, the sparser the hair regrowth will be.

The inside of the room was still all pink, with black and white accents for the bed and the tables. The treatment bed had fresh towels over it.

On the table were the materials and tools my therapist needed for my Brazilian wax.

As promised, their tools are indeed sterilized and sanitized prior to the treatment.

Pink Parlour only uses Caron Hard Wax, which is Australia's #1 wax known for it's unsurpassed quality, efficiency, and gentle formulation. Even the wax is pink! How cute! Although it looked strawberry-scented/flavored, it had no scent to it and it's hypoallergenic.

It's actually my first time to try hard wax like this. The hot (not warm) melted wax is applied using a wooden spatula on the area. Each wooden spatula is thrown away after application, which is part of their strict "no double dipping" rule. I was actually a bit worried that it was a little too hot for me to handle, but my therapist assured me that it won't burn my skin. The initial heat setting was set to 5 (middle), but she adjusted it to 1 (lowest heat setting). Even with the lowest heat setting, I still found it quite hot, so maybe my skin was sensitive to the heat. Thankfully, as my therapist promised, no burns! The wax then dries up after a few seconds, then the therapist pulls the solidified wax in one swift motion. Off comes the hair! This went on for several times, until every strand of hair was removed. Since a Brazilian wax meant clean all over - front to back with zero hair left, I was left with super soft and smooth skin all over again - in just about 30 minutes or less. Beach trip or no beach trip, I can really get used to this clean feeling, also for hygiene purposes.

Pink Parlour promises maximum comfort and minimal pain. While a Brazilian wax can't be totally pain-free, I say that it's very tolerable (based from my experience). Try it! ;)
