I don't think I'll ever get tired of making hair care posts. :D
I just had my hair colored at Tony & Jackey last month, so I'm currently all the more appreciating hair care products especially created for colored hair. Take these as an example: The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance range for colored hair.
My hair is colored but is naturally wavy/curly, so I feel that it has special needs like products which has no sulfates. Based on experience, sulfate-free products coax out your hair's natural texture and won't be as drying as regular shampoos.
This post will be a capsule review for the Rainforest Radiance Shampoo, Conditioner, and Detangling Spray. This hair care range is both good for you and the aquatic environment since it contains no silicones, sulfates, colorants, and parabens, as the water we use to wash ourselves with goes down the drain into bodies of water where sea creatures thrive.
The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Shampoo (P695.00)
Gently cleanses to remove dulling residues for prolonged colour radiance.
- Moisturises and protects shine.
- Contains UV filter. With pracaxi oil, bilberry extract, linseed oil and Community Trade sugar.
- No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens and no colourants
- For coloured hair.
Pros:
- This shampoo has a strong and unique scent. It smells exotic, spicy, and zesty, but it tones down after you rinse it off.
- It leaves a beautiful and light lingering scent on the hair.
- It does not lather. Yes, this is now a pro for me! I feel that it won't strip off my hair color that much when a shampoo doesn't lather. Too foamy ones are bad news for colored, curly hair.
- It does not dry out my hair.
- It's gentle enough for everyday use, and find that my hair color doesn't turn brassy for longer when I use this.
- It contains UV filters to protect my hair from the sun's damaging rays.
Cons:
- Hair doesn't feel soft and smooth as you rinse this off in the shower (but it doesn't leave the hair feeling dry).
- It is not strong enough to thoroughly remove buildup with continuous use.
- Hair has the tendency to feel/look oily when you don't rinse this off properly.
The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Conditioner (P695.00)
Conditions colour-treated hair. Moisturises, protects shine and prolongs radiance.
- Contains pracaxi oil, bilberry extract, linseed oil and Community Trade soya oil and aloe vera.
- No silicones, no parabens and no colourants.
- For coloured hair.
Pros:
- It has a light texture.
- It's easy to rinse off - it actually feels like you used nothing. It's not slippery, unlike the usual conditioners.
Cons:
- Packaging could be improved. It's difficult to dispense the conditioner with this kind of bottle. I replaced my cap with a pump applicator for daily use.
- It's not enough to moisturize or condition dry hair.
The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Detangling Spray (P750.00)
Leave-in conditioner to soften, add shine and protect vibrancy of colour-treated hair.
- Contains UV filter. With pracaxi oil, bilberry extract, linseed oil and Community Trade aloe vera.
- No silicones, no parabens and no colourants.
- For coloured hair.
Pros:
- The bottle dispenses light mists of product evenly to your hair.
- This is an alternative to those who want to add shine to the hair without the oily feel of hair serums.
- It's definitely non-sticky, non-greasy, and not oily.
- It contains UV filters, which is like SPF for the hair.
- It leaves my hair soft and less frizzy.
- It leaves hair smelling fresher (especially for those who commute).
Cons:
- The bottle is big, so you can't really bring this out for midday touchups. (An atomizer is a must!)
I'd recommend the Detangling Spray product not only for beach trips, but also for everyday - since hair can be vulnerable to the sun's burning rays, too.
If you're considering the Rainforest Radiance hair care rangle, you might like the Shampoo and the Detangling Spray. You're better off skipping the conditioner since it does nothing.
