Cosmopolitan August 2011 + Free Revlon Makeover and Discount

Today I was still stuck at home. I was getting kind of lonely because I was home alone, until classes got suspended in the afternoon, which meant that Mama and my 2 sisters would come home early. YEY! The August issue of Cosmopolitan magazine kept me company in between eating ponkans, drinking water, and dozing off from time to time. It's their annual beauty issue, so I just had to get it as soon as I saw it in the newsstands.

Pretty Angelica Panganiban is on the cover. She looks fresh as always.

As for the freebie of the month, you get a free makeover in Revlon counters nationwide plus a P100.00 discount on selected Revlon products.

Personally, I do not like having makeovers in department store counters because the testers could sometimes be so dirty and it's hard to say no to pushy salespeople. But since this one comes with a voucher, then by all means, go ahead because it is free (and without commitment).

The P100.00 discount is only valid for the following items:

Custom Eyes Shadow and Liner
ColorBurst Lipgloss
PhotoReady 2-Way Powder Foundation
Custom Eyes Mascara
ColorStay Aqua Mineral

If you're planning to get any of the items above, then grab a copy of this magazine to avail of the discount!

I liked this issue better than the previous ones because it is jam-packed with beauty stuff. I noticed that there are more beauty pages in this issue too, plus the Cosmopolitan Beauty supplement, which was a thin magazine separate from the main magazine.

I'm not used to having the Cosmo Beauty Awards separate from the magazine itself, but this one can come in handy if you want to go shop for the items listed in it.

Pages of colorful makeup and kikay stuff that garnered the Cosmo seal of approval. It's a beauty buffet like no other. Indulge!

Also, hair ideas to inspire your next haircut/hairstyle when you go to the salon.

Makeup Brushes 101

This was rather unrealistic for a normal girl's budget. Most brushes featured here are part of sets that costs over a thousand. I wish they'd feature more affordable brushes that are sold individually.

Lastly, DIY looks with step by step instructions. Very helpful for those who need guide in makeup application.

If you liked the sneak preview I posted above, then grab your own copy of Cosmopolitan August 2011 now. :)

Helen

Stay Beautiful (Even When You're Sick)

It's no fun being sick. Today I was supposed to go to Binondo for work (to help out in our bodega sale), but my body just couldn't. If I went there today, I don't know if I will come home alive. LOL. I feel like a drama queen, but it's no joke. I really did not see this coming. I was just having dry cough yesterday, and now I'm stuck at home with fever, colds, and severe cough. I have our weird and crappy weather to credit for that. It's times like this that I badly miss Mr. Sun.

Thinking of what to write, and I got inspired with this idea: beauty tips for the sick! Hehe! :D

For dehydrated skin:
Hydrate and moisturize. I am guilty for drinking less than 8 glasses of water everyday, but whenever celebrities are asked for beauty tips, they just say "drink lots of water". Resolution: Drink as much water as I can. My skin gets so bad when I am sick. The sides of my nose are peeling from all the sniffles, and moisturizer comes in handy here. This one from Clinique is good for combination to oily skin.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

For dull skin tone:
Whenever my skin looks so pale and uneven, tinted moisturizer always comes to the rescue.

If you want to conceal dark circles, you may use concealer for additional coverage.

For red, puffy eyes:
Instead of using the usual black eyeliner, try lining your eyes with a navy blue one. It cancels out the redness of the eyes almost instantly. I love the blues and the greens in the Dollface Cosmetic's Vanity Palette. They are so pigmented, you can also use them as eyeliner (provided you use the correct brush). However, some shades here are either a hit or miss. I'm not a fan of those orange and reddish eyeshadows because they're weird and they make me look sick even if I'm not. I think they are for creative eye looks (when you want pops of rainbow on your lids).

For chapped lips:
Lastly, do not forget to swipe on some lip balm! Our weather is so weird. A few weeks ago it was as hot as summer, and now it's raining like there is no tomorrow. Kiss those chapped lips away with your favorite lip balm.

If you want to shift the attention away from your eyes, use a bright colored lipstick instead.

Take care always, ladies! Always bring a jacket and umbrella with you so you'll be ready in case of a sudden downpour. Take care of your health so you won't get sick. Bawal magkasakit, mahal magkasakit! I learned my lesson the hard way. :P
