Wear Your Color Proud @ Tony & Jackey SM North EDSA Annex

Wear Your Color Proud is L'Oreal Professionel Philippines' latest campaign to enhance the Filipinas unique beauty - whether you're a Morena, Mestiza, or Chinita. This campaign aims to create a healthy discussion between the hairstylist and the client on which hair color would go best with one's skintone.

I hosted a giveaway last month wherein one of my readers could join me for a hair makeover, so here's our Wear Your Color Proud experience!

We were initially scheduled at 11:00AM at Tony & Jackey in SM North EDSA Annex, but it turns out the branch wasn't informed of our appointment. Good thing I called the branch the night before! Things got settled at around 12:00NN, so we just rescheduled our appointment to 2:00PM. The entire procedure lasted about 2 hours.

I think it was a good day for us since Tony & Jackey wasn't fully booked that Sunday. Upon arrival, we were seated and handed this Majirel booklet, which contained a wide selection of hair samples.

Majirel is just 1 of the 3 hair color brands under L'Oreal Professionel that are participating in the Wear Your Color Proud campaign.

While the Wear Your Color Proud campaign promised a Color Consultation Diagnosis Guide, I was expecting the stylist to discuss with me which color would look best on me. Instead, I was handed the Majirel booklet to choose the hair color on my own. Believe me, I am clueless with this stuff. After a couple of minutes of being unable to decide, I asked for the assistance of Ms. Ruby, Hairstylist of Tony & Jackey SM North EDSA Annex.

While I was gunning for something darker (for contrast against my skin tone), she recommended me to try the shade "13 Lightest Brown".

My hair was immediately colored right after. It could be the light color choice that caused me to experience mild scalp itching along my back and front hairline, but they assured me that it was normal. (This didn't happen to me the last time I had my hair colored about 3 months ago, also at Tony & Jackey.)

Before
Visible roots, washed out brown shade

After
Vibrant light brown hair

Tony & Jackey is famous for "twirl-drying" hair, just using fingers to bring out the curls of one's hair. But this time, my hair was set using a slim straightening iron. I was quite concerned that this would burn my hair and cause more damage, but the beautiful curls/waves lasted 2 days on me without getting oily. So, I had my hair colored on Sunday, and had beautiful, bonggang wavy hair that bounced with life on Monday and Tuesday. I washed my hair with conditioner come Tuesday night though.

No more visible black roots

Volumized hair, big curls

Back view of my new do. My hair looks dry here, but I like the waves/curls!
(Wait 'til you see my +1's back shot, she has perfect hair!)

To be honest, I liked my Mahogany hair better than this one. (That time, it was the Senior Hairstylist who picked the shade for me.) This time, the outcome of the dye job veered towards orange, since my hair already had a reddish brown base prior to coloring. But hey, I'm pretty sure that the color will tone down after a couple of washes. For now, I'll just have to have the attitude to rock my new do!

Of course, I'll show you my +1's hair story too. My reader Kyra has long, straight, black virgin hair - AKA the perfect candidate for Wear Your Color Proud!

She told me that she has always wanted to color her hair reddish brown, and has even considered going the DIY route with at home hair coloring kits a few days before seeing my giveaway post on Facebook.

From simple to glam! Kyra looked absolutely radiant with her new do. I loved that her new color flattered her Chinita skin tone well. Reddish brown brightened up her face without the need for makeup, and was less harsh than jet-black hair.

This is her hair from the back. It's red, perfectly wavy, and gorgeous!
