Cleanse, tone, and moisturize - that's what skincare experts tell us to do when we want to have great skin. While I myself have a hard time being consistent to my skincare regimen, my sister begs to differ. She treats skincare like a religion, which is good because now she has healthy skin. This skincare review is based on her 4 month trial of the Neutrogena Fine Fairness Range.
Skin Background: Oily/Combination Skin
Her skin had post-breakout marks (from teenage acne). The dermatologist we consulted during our high school years did not teach us how to maintain clear skin. She just gave us her unbranded white plastic bottles of Glycolic Acid facial wash and Clindamycin solution. She told us to get it from her everytime we ran out of those, as if it were the only solution to our pimples. Her medication helped us a bit till our skin reached a plateau and her products were not effective anymore, so we decided to seek skincare products that are readily available in the market. Little did we know that there are a lot more inexpensive solutions to our pimples. It just comes down to choosing the right product for your skin type and using it day and night, and that cleansing, toning, and moisturizing is the key to great skin. Something our dermatologist never taught us.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Range
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cleanser
- Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cleanser is a purifying cleanser with Vitamin C and Essential Soy extract that is clinically proven to help improve overall fairness and translucence. Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cleanser 100g (P299.75)
The cleanser is mild and non-drying. It does not leave the skin feeling squeaky clean and uncomfortably tight. This is a good cleanser - it smells nice and it makes the skin look brighter after use.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner
- Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner is a whitening toner that softens and hydrates the skin to help improve overall fairness and translucence. Contains Vitamin C and Essential Soy, with liposome delivery system, to enhance overall radiance and replenish moisture for soft, smooth skin.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner 200ml (P459.75)
Out of the entire range, this toner is my sister's favorite. It does its job of removing excess dirt. After applying this, the skin instantly becomes softer and smoother.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30 PA++
- A daily moisturizing whitening lotion that helps protect skin against the appearance of melanin and uneven pigmentation for a healthy, fair and translucent glow.
- Helps whiten skin from within: Neutrogena HealthyWhite Complex helps boost the whitening process and helps reduce the appearance of melanin and uneven pigmentation.
- Helps protect skin from photo damage: UVA/UVB formula with SPF 30 helps shield skin from darkening and photo damage.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion SPF 30 PA++ 40ml (P719.75)
We're not fans of this lotion but it does moisturize the skin and it has SPF. However, this makes the skin look shiny and oily, and it leaves a slight white cast when applied. If you want to try this, make sure to only use a small amount.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening UV Moisture SPF 50 PA+++ with Helioplex

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening UV Moisture SPF 50 PA+++ 30ml (P660.00)
This sunblock has a matte finish, very ideal for oily skin. This is actually my favorite product in the entire range. I used this on my face last time I went to the beach, and did not get sunburned at all! It's moisturizing enough, and is also a great makeup base. It's a perfect product for people on-the-go. My sister and I prefer this over the Fine Fairness Lotion.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum

At first, my sister used this serum day and night and that left her skin feeling a bit dry. Since this serum has retinol, which can make skin more sensitive to the sun, then it's better to just use this at night. After 4 months of usage (in the evening), my sister is not really sure what this gel-cream like serum does for her skin (maybe its because she does not have dark spots to begin with), but she liked how her skin felt after patting on this serum.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Deep Whitening Mask 30g x 5 sheets (P990.00)
This hydrating mask hugs the contours of your face snugly. It leaves skin bright and glowing after use. The downside of this mask is that it is pricey and that the effects are temporary. After 3 days, the skin does not look as glowing as it was, but this goes for all face masks.

Results:
Whitening? Not that much, as my sister's skin was fair to begin with. It did make her skin look more even though.
Brightening? Her skin looks so much healthier. It radiates with health!
Smoothing? Her skin is smoother and softer, with less blemishes.
Moisturizing? This range does the job well in moisturizing her skin.
Verdict:
Her skin is now at her best state (since she started having acne at 12 years old), thanks to Neutrogena!
