Tous les Jours Dark Glaze Chocolate Cake & Macarons

My Dad celebrated his birthday last week, so I got him a cake from my all time favorite bakeshop, Tous les Jours in SM North EDSA The Block!

It's crazy, since it was only last week that I found out my Dad's true favorite cake flavor. All the while I thought it was mocha or mango, but he told me it is chocolate! So chocolate I got. :o

Tous les Jours Dark Glaze Chocolate Cake (P598.00)
Made with authentic belgian chocolate layered with rich chocolate butter cream and topped with a layer of chocolate ganache

The top part of the cake has 3 pink heart-shaped soft cookies wherein your dedications can be written, plus a piece of green tea macaron. ♥

Aside from the cute box that it comes in, you also get a set of slim and colorful candles, and a plastic cake knife whenever you buy a cake from Tous les Jours. (Notice the sides of this cake aren't dark brown anymore. That's because I peeled off the protective plastic film surrounding the cake.)

Everyone in my family loved this cake, particularly the dark chocolate ganache on top! The cake was itself was fresh and soft. It's not crumbly or dry, unlike the Party with Bear cake I got a few months back. You can see chocolate butter cream icing between the layers of chocolate cake, which keeps the cake moist. I think this cake is a bestseller for a good reason! The design is pretty, and the sweetness is just right, so it appeals to both kids and adults.

True story: My sister liked this cake so much, she asked me to buy one the next day, even if there was no special occasion.

Tous les Jours Macarons (P140.00)
In mango, strawberry, vanilla, and green tea

My colleague celebrated his birthday last week too, so I got another set of Tous les Jours macaron to give as gift, same as last time. This store really makes it too easy for us whenever we're searching for birthday gifts. :D

Tous les Jours Pastry Twist (GWP)
Flaky twist donut with a crunch

They used to give away a bottle of non-alcoholic apple champagne for every P1,000.00 worth of purchase, but for this month, they're giving away a Pastry Twist for every P600.00 single-receipt purchase.

The next day, I dropped by Tous les Jours again to buy my sister a Dark Glaze Chocolate Cake, and I got myself a box of macarons, too. I wasn't able to take a picture, but the combination I got was 1 chocolate, 1 vanilla, and 3 green tea macarons. I shared them with my sisters. I also got another Pastry Twist that day.

Tous les Jours Green Tea Macaron (P28.00)

I was most excited for the green tea macaron, until I opened it in half. The cream was a total let down! I've been to events where Tous les Jours macarons were served, but they're nothing like this. I know it's just P28.00 a piece, but still they could have put more cream in it. The macaron itself was good though. I like the crisp but soft shell, and the moist chewy inside part of the macaron. The filling is what they need to improve on.

Tous les Jours Chocolate Macaron (P28.00)

I didn't bother opening this one anymore, but it tasted creamier, which was a good thing. The chocolate flavor was rich too, so this one doesn't disappoint.

I've found a new favorite Tous les Jours cake, which is the Dark Glaze Chocolate Cake! I still miss the Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake though, which I will still repurchase in the future. As for the macarons, I am not so sure!

How about you, what's your favorite from Tous les Jours? :3

Love,
Helen

    1. I used to think TLJ cakes were overrated too, not to mention expensive. Hit or miss siguro. I like the Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake (more on the fruity, tangy side) and this Dark Glaze Chocolate Cake (chocolatey but never too sweet). I was disappointed with Party with Bear kasi dry yung insides. But Dark Glaze is really good and worth a try! :D

  7. According to Tous les Jours, these are their top-selling products: Sweet Black Rice Bread with Cream Cheese, Milk Bun, Macaron de Paris, Party with Bear, Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake, and Chocolate Forest.

Sorry, I personally haven't tried both Chocolate Forest and Cookie Cream Cheese Cake, so I can't tell.
