Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10 in Sand

I got to take home this mini sample foundation from the Estee Lauder counter event last month. Among the different types of foundation, I like using liquid foundation the most because of the coverage it gives. Because my skin is oily, I have to choose an oil-free/oil-control foundation so it would last all day.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup with SPF 10 in Sand

Benefits: 15-hour staying power
Coverage: Medium, buildable; SPF 10

Product details:
  • 15-hour staying power. Flawless all day.
  • This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity.
  • Won't change color, smudge or come off on clothes.
  • Feels lightweight and comfortable.
  • Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

Formula facts:
  • Oil-free
  • Dermatologist-tested
  • Non-acnegenic
  • Fragrance-free

At first swatch, I thought that this foundation was too dark for me. See it unblended; it looks very dark. But then I remembered that my hand was whiter than my face. When blended, it looks just right, although a bit yellowish.

When worn

It was a close, although not perfect, match for my skin tone. It is darker than the current foundation I am using (which is Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation in BO1), and it gave me a natural (and a little sun-kissed) look. I used this foundation alone in this photo, no concealer needed even for my under-eye area. I applied it using a foundation brush, but I found that using fingers gave better control and blending. I road-tested this product on a trip to the mall. I wore it alone, without topping it with face powder and using oil-blotting sheets, and it managed to keep my face matte for 6 hours, which was pretty good. Even after hours of walking around, trying on clothes, and eating, my face still looked fresh, not shiny and haggard. That's one thing I don't get from cheaper foundations which does not last for a long time. Another thing I like about this is that it withstands humidity (which is so common here in the Philippines). Even with the hot weather we're having now, my face won't look as if its on makeup meltdown when I use this foundation. It also did not change color, or oxidize, even with my oily skin. This foundation also felt comfortable and lightweight, as if I had no makeup on.

Since I have an itsy-bitsy bottle sample of this foundation, I'll be saving it for special occasions (well until I get the budget to invest on it). If you're looking for a good foundation for oily or combination skin, try this one out!

    1. It looked so orange on my hand, and I was surprised with that since I thought it would disappear to my skintone. I'm liking the packaging, so pretty and posh. :)
