I found Maybelline Micellar Water's twin, and it's even more affordable!

My all time favorite Japanese cleansing water got discontinued here in the Philippines, so I had to try another brand. Maybelline came to mind instantly, since they're the first to bring in affordable micellar water here in our country! Having read so much rave reviews, I just had to try it, too! I'm halfway through with my bottle as of writing this review.

To be honest, I like this one, but I don't love it. This product is mild, gentle, and feels just like water. It doesn't sting my eyes or dry out my skin. Sure, it does its job with makeup removal and it's affordable, but it doesn't have any other additional skincare benefits. I have to use 2 cotton pads soaked with Maybelline Micellar Water to remove light, everyday makeup. On days I apply my waterproof foundation, I need 3 or more cotton pads, several more passes before my makeup totally comes off. I still double cleanse with facial wash and apply toner, as I feel that going straight for moisturizer will make me breakout. (My skin type is oily, while this product is made for sensitive skin.)

It's an okay product, but I am not repurchasing for the main reason that I have found an identical product with almost the SAME ingredients at an even cheaper price. Everyone, let's compare the ingredients of Maybelline Micellar Water vs Garnier Micellar Water (Pink).

Maybelline Micellar Water Ingredients

Garnier Micellar Water Ingredients

The only difference is that Maybelline has an added ingredient BHT, which is a cosmetic preservative. Both brands are under the L'Oreal group, and they are even manufactured by the same factory - BEAUTYCOS International in China. So yes, they're the basically same.

Prices:

Maybelline Micellar Water 200ml - P199
vs
Garnier Micellar Water 125ml - P149
Garnier Micellar Water 400ml - P249

Because of my skin type, I chose the blue variant of Garnier, which is for oily and acne-prone skin. I even got it on sale for just P199 for the big 400ml bottle! 😍 My sister already has the same big bottle at home and it took me fewer passes to get all my makeup off! That's why I made the purchase. Can't wait to finally use up my Maybelline Micellar Water so I could move on to my next one. 😂

Are you also using Micellar Water? Which brand are you using?

Love,
Helen

  1. I've tried both the pink and blue variant and I love them both! No sting, no smell, and best of all, it effectively removes makeup. My dad gave me a 400ml of the two even before it got out in the market, so I was lucky to have my hands on them and experience its power before it became a hit. :D
