Tony Moly Luminous Baby Aura CC Balm

Who wouldn't want to have baby soft, baby smooth skin?

I'd have to admit that the first time I got the Tony Moly Luminous Baby Aura CC Balm, I was kind of iffy. Oily skin + cream makeup base = not such a good combination, or so I thought. I thought this would be heavy for my skin type, so I looked up reviews online first before using it...only to find that it yields a matte finish. Woah! I had a change of heart in a snap. :D

Ingredients:

It contains natural avocado peptide which protects the skin from anti-oxidation.

Tony Moly Luminous Baby Aura CC Balm is a 5-in-1 product that serves as a primer, moisture cream, BB cream, aura effect, and volume filler.

It comes in only 2 shades: 01 Light Beige and 02 Natural Beige. The one I have (02) is already the darker shade between the two, so shade matching could be a problem for deeper skin tones.

The Tony Moly Baby Aura CC Cream comes in a cute compact packaging. It has an air puff as applicator. If you're thinking of cushions - nah! This one comes in a pure solid cream compact.

Notice the swirls? The white part gives moisture, while the beige part gives coverage.

For me, it's best to just use this once a day - in the morning when you're skin is clean. Retouching with this is not recommended since the CC balm has a moist texture, and the air puff easily gets dirty.

How to use: Dispense an adequate amount onto the puff and apply on the entire face in a gentle tapping motion.

Swatch:

Without CC | With CC

The side with product (right) looks more luminous instantly.

When worn:

This CC balm is creamy and blends like a dream. It gives my skin medium coverage - which is amazing for a CC since they're just meant to correct color and not really for coverage. Pores and redness are all gone and my skin looks baby smooth every time I use this. I've also been told that I wasn't wearing any makeup the day I wore this, so the finish is very natural - just like my skin, only better! Whenever the weather is cooler, I skip powder since this one gives me a demi-matte finish (matte but still with glow), but during sunny days I dust on a light layer of powder to keep my face from getting shiny and to keep the product from sliding off. The best part - no breakouts here!

This one has no SPF, and I wish it had some. However, I do spot Titanium Dioxide high up on the ingredients list, so it could serve as a minimal sun protection, better than bare skin alone. The good side of a product with no/low SPF - no white cast in photos.

  2. It's hard for me to look for bases in korean makeup because they are too light for me. I have medium to dark skin tone. :-(

    1. Hmm super hard question! Probably BB creams (that come in tubes) due to the coverage and hygienic reasons. I like this CC for its coverage too, but in the long run the puff and the surface of the cake isn't too hygienic. :)

  4. That looks like a promising product from Tony Moly. I haven't jumped on the CC cream bandwagon and I'll keep this in mind in case I decide to. Thanks for this review!

Btw, ganda talaga ng skin mo, Helen :)
