Marquee Mall's Big Bite! 2: The Northern Food Festival

Filipinos are such foodies. We love to eat and discover new dishes that tickle our fancy. Since food festivals are trending right now, let me share with you something exciting! This weekend, you'll have every reason to visit the province of Pampanga as MarQuee Mall presents Big Bite! The Northern Food Festival on October 17-19, 2014.

Big Bite promises a three-day celebration of all things delicious for everyone - with cooking demos, food art, free food samples, live entertainment, and more!

Early this month, I attended the sneak preview of Big Bite at MarQuee Mall's Activity Center. Here's a preview on what delicious food to expect from the upcoming Big Bite event!

Pako Salad

Swam na Mais

Tuguegarao Longanisa

Ox Tripe and Beef Tail Kare-Kare

Fried Lumpiang Gulay

Bagnet

Binulo Rice

Over 100 best and homegrown food merchants from Region I, II, III and the Cordillera Administrative Region are going to be featured at the food market. From condiments, spices, to coffee and jams, to local favorites such as Ilocos empanada, bagnet, puto calasiao, there is something for every taste bud. Enjoy the food and even bring some home for pasalubong!

My personal favorites were Pako Salad and Bagnet, oh glorious Bagnet, with skin so crispy, and meat so tender!

Betute

Camaro

For the more adventurous eater, how about some Betute (frogs) and Camaro (crickets)?

Chicken Sisig

Bangus Sisig

Pork Sisig (must try!)

What's a visit to Pampanga without trying out Angeles City's major contribution to Philippine cuisine - sisig! Hailed as the best pork dish by the New York Times, sisig has been celebrated in the province for more than 40 years. Traditionally made of pork parts, mixed with spices, and served on a sizzling plate, sisig now comes in other delicious variants.

To celebrate the country's growing street food scene, Big Bite offers a new aisle on the festival grounds that offer Street Food specials.

Strawberry Taho

Binatog

Canonigo

Palitaw

Cassava Cake

People can't help but flock to these treats in every street corner, from ice scramble to strawberry taho, to binatog (boiled corn with grated coconut and salt), and dirty ice cream.

Art installations by award-winning visual artist Leeroy New and the Pampanga Arts Guild will be on display throughout the festival days.

The festival comes with the Big Buffet promo, where MarQuee Mall shoppers can get free food samples for a minimum P1,000 purchase from any MarQuee Mall merchants.
