The Body Shop Spring Trend 2014: Play With Colour

It's blondes vs. brunettes over at The Body Shop's Spring Trend Collection 2014! They launched it quite timely, since Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Got date, ladies? Play with colour!

The Body Shop's Spring Trend 2014

The set I received from The Body Shop Philippines was for the brunettes, and it couldn't be more perfect! (But then, I bet this set is friendly for all skin tones and hair colors.)

The star product of this collection are the hair chalks, which comes in 2 shades: Tickle Me Pink and Falling for Blue. The pink shade is supposedly made for those with light hair, while the blue one is for darker hair, but I believe both shades are very pigmented and would show up brightly even on dark hair.

The Body Shop Hair Chalk in Falling For Blue

I remember seeing the hair chalks for the first time at the mall last week. Though my favorite color has always been pink, I found myself rather drawn to the blue one! I tried on the tester, and streaked my hair bright blue. Then and there, my mermaid fantasies came true! :D

I think this is a very creative and innovative product, since with this we can do fun DIY hairstyles at home - be it single strands that pop with color, an ombre look, or a funky two-tone twist!

The hair chalk is so easy to use. Just gather the section you wish to color, press your thumb against the chalk, and glide it down to the tips of your hair. Set it with hairspray to lock the color in. At the end of the day, just wash it off with shampoo.

The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette 30
Rich Espresso, Burnished Gold, Dusty Fawn, Warm Copper

For Spring 2014, The Body Shop launched 2 new versions of the Shimmer Cubes. The blondes' set comes in a palette of pretty pinks, while the one I got are varying shades of browns. Though pink is my favorite color, I think that browns are easier to work with, and are more versatile enough for everyday use.

As with all the Shimmer Cube Palettes, each block is housed in individual plastic cases of their own.

I think almost all shades here are easy to work with, except for the orange-y one, which I have a feeling will get neglected in my kit. Haha! (Sorry, orange is my least favorite color of the rainbow.)

Swatches:

(Left to Right) Rich Espresso, Burnished Gold, Dusty Fawn, Warm Copper

My favorite shade is Burnished Gold (which looks more champagne). This shade is so versatile, as it can also work as a highlighter on top of the cheekbones and nose bridge. I'm also liking Rich Espresso, a pretty gold shade. All shades have a shimmery and metallic finish without much variation in texture, since they're marketed as Shimmer Cubes after all.

The Body Shop Lip Gloss in Vanilla

For Spring 2014, The Body Shop launched 2 new flavors of their well-loved lip glosses: Rose and Vanilla. Rose comes in a shimmery pink shade, while Vanilla comes in this shimmery champagne shade.

I said before that I'm not into lip gloss, but what I learned about beauty was to never say never. Now, I find myself using lip gloss so often! This one is a flavored lip gloss, but it doesn't really taste like anything. It just has that yummy, foodie (and not floral) vanilla scent.

It comes in a squeeze tube packaging with a slant-tip plastic applicator - which is actually my favorite kind of packing for glosses, since it's convenient and hygienic.

Swatches:

The Body Shop Lip Gloss in Vanilla is so pretty when worn. The sparkles are very obvious, so you have to tone down the shimmer everywhere else when using this. As for this shade, it has the ability to make my lips look like its wearing a nude lippie. This lip gloss is perfect with smoky eyes, but I know this would also look good if you're trying to sport the natural, no-makeup look.

  2. I'm definitely considering on getting a hair chalk since I can't get my hair colored like crazy because of my full time job. Haha!

    1. Hey Nix! I actually want to do a separate post on that, but I'd have to iron my hair straight first para mas maganda yung finish. :)

  5. Oh no the hair chalk is so expensive! Well, considering that it is TBS, but all hair chalks are the same, they result in dry, chalky finish. I think I'd settle for Hot Huez than this. The eyeshadow on the other hand is so beautiful! I love all the colors and how pigmented they are.

Yes, the eyeshadows' color payoff are amazing! I especially love Burnished Gold since it's versatile enough to be a highlighter.

    1. Aww thanks, Gen-zel! TBS Shimmer Cubes are really pigmented; I think that's the reason why they're popular among bloggers as well. :)
