Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Soap

I've introduced to you all the new and improved Godiva Natural Skincare range here, and now here's a review on the Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Soap.

Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Soap

About the product:

Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Soap cleanses and whitens as it evens out skin discolorations. A gentle and non-drying cleanser enriched with Glabridin from Licorice for brighter, fairer skin. It has high levels of whitening ingredients for faster results. Safe for continued use for longer-lasting whiter skin.

The expiry date in indicated in the box.

Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Soap comes in a clear soap bar, free from any colorants.

This bar boasts of having the ingredient Glabridin (from licorice extract), which suppresses melanin (dark pigment) formation and gives the skin a lighter appearance over time. But because it suppresses melanin, which is our body's defense mechanism from the sun's UV rays, this can make our skin more sensitive and prone to burning. When it comes to whitening soaps, I prefer to just use them only at night. If you choose to use whitening soaps even during the day, never skip applying SPF and always carry with you an umbrella.

Pros:
  • It is indeed gentle and non-drying compared to other brands of whitening soaps.
  • It lathers well.
  • It is easy to rinse.
  • It leaves the skin squeaky clean but not dry and uncomfortable.
  • The bar soap doesn't easily melt. Mine lasted for about 3 months, used only once a day (at night).
  • It can help brighten the skin and make it look more even. (Example, the transition of skin tone from my outer arm to my inner arm doesn't look to drastic.)
  • Licorice is a natural ingredient and this makes the soap safe for continued use.

Cons:
  • It has an herbal scent that I am not fond of. It doesn't smell fresh to me.
  • It has sulfates.
  • "Licorice extract" is listed as the last item on the ingredients list, so the soap may just have a tiny bit of the so called whitening agent.
  • Don't expect a very obvious whitening effect.

Will I repurchase? No. I don't dislike this soap, but I am not in love with it either. I feel that there are other more effective products in the market also worth trying.
Price: P30.00/65g, P60.00/135g

  1. I find liquid cleanser to be easier to use than bar soaps but it's nice that this one is gentle and long lasting.
