Gavino's Japanese Donuts & More

Like me, my Dad has this fondness of going on food trips. On his way home from work, he passed by Banawe and got curious with this new store called Gavino's Japanese Donuts & More. It's just beside Chicken Charlie and Yoh Froz, so you won't miss it. He bought us a box just to try it out!

Gavino's Japanese Donuts & More

Pon De Ball
(P15.00/pc, P90.00/box of 6, P200.00/box of 15)
Left to Right: Hazelnut | Strawberry | Bavarian | Green Tea | Red Velvet | Choco Ball

Gavino's Pon De Ball Donuts (Box of 15)

The first time I saw these, I thought they were plain donut munchkins that I used to love. Taking a bite of it told me otherwise. It had a soft, chewy, springy texture so unique that you'd find yourself reaching for another pon de ball in no time. The dough of this donut is made from rice flour and starches, which results to a unique texture of a mochi ball and a regular donut combined. The dough itself is not sweet at all. For those with a heart for sweets, you may find the dough a bit bland, and to me the doughs taste the same despite the color differences. At first, I didn't appreciate the taste of the dough so much, but upon reaching the center where the cream was, there was an explosion of flavor that balances out the flavor wonderfully and turns the sweetness just right.

On his second visit, he got us more donuts to try - this time it's boxes of pon de ball and pon de ring donuts!

Gavino's Pon De Ball Donuts (Box of 6)

My parents and my sister couldn't get over the first box of pon de ball, so they got another one to satisfy their cravings.

Pon De Ring
Regular Pon De Ring (P29.00/pc, P27.00 each/6 pcs, P25.00 each/12 pcs)
Premium Pon De Ring (P39.00/pc, P37.00 each/6 pcs, P35.00 each/12 pcs)

The pon de ring donuts looked like cute bangles! Each one is comprised of 6 small circle donuts that is similar to pon de ball donuts, only the flavor is spread on top of each donut. Again, each piece is not too sweet so I can eat 2-3 pieces in 1 sitting!

Strawberry Sprinkle

Choco Sprinkle

M&M's

Peanut Butter

Chocolate Krunch

Cinnamon Sugar

I'm liking the peanut butter and cinnamon sugar, but I will definitely try their other flavors when I drop by their store. Gavino's Japanese Donuts & More currently has 3 branches: Greenhills, Banawe, and Il Terrazzo in Tomas Morato. Like Gavino's Donuts, Coffee & Milk Tea on Facebook for more information and updates!

Love,
Helen

    1. The texture of this one is unlike any donut I have tried before. It's soft and very chewy, whereas KK's is just soft. :) I personally like my donuts sweeter than this, but my Mom, Dad, and sister are hooked on Gavino's because they aren't fans of too-sweet donuts like me. Have a great weekend, dear! :)
