Five Cows: My Happy Place!

Looks like my family and I have found a new favorite restaurant! Last Sunday, we revisited Five Cows again in Trinoma to try their other dishes. Since I already had brunch at home, I decided to just order dessert, while my dad and sister ordered rice meal and pasta.

Rocky Almond Bars (Slice - P135.00, Whole - P850.00)
Our chef's heavenly creation of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauces, praline, chopped almond over an oreo crust, and topped with a generous swirl of extra chocolate sauce.

This slice of ice cream was huge and is really meant for sharing! The chocolate and vanilla ice cream was smooth and heavenly, and the praline added texture and that extra crunch. The oreo crust toned down the sweetness. Because I'm not a fan of nuts, I could do away with the chopped almond so I removed them prior to eating this one.

Carbonara (P140.00)
Spaghetti. Bacon. Cream. Assorted cheeses.

The carbonara was so good. I think I liked it as much as the Creamy Beef & Mushroom pasta which I ordered last time.

My other sister ordered the Creamy Beef & Mushroom again this time, so I didn't take a picture of it anymore, but we requested that the pasta be cooked without rosemary. No more spiky things on our pasta! But then, my sister found her order to be a bit dry so she asked for additional sauce, which the crew were nice enough to add to her dish, plus extra slices of bread in tow. (Winner customer service!)

Country Style Pork Belly (P195.00)
Pork "liempo". Pinoy barbecue glaze. Pickled vegetables. Java rice.

This one is my Dad's order. Again, the serving is huge! See the giant liempo? It was also delicious, but I wished that the meat had less fat and more lean meat on it.

I remember exchanging messages with the owner of Five Cows, and she recommended for me to try these on my next visit: boneless chicken barbecue, baked spinach and cheese spread (for appetizer), pumpkin soup, carbonara (for pasta), and grilled liempo. For dessert, rocky almond bars (if you prefer chocolate-based), brazo de mercedez or sans rival (for an old-style dessert with ice cream), kahlua crunch or rum and choco decadence (for liquor-based cakes). I have just tried some of those recommendations, and I will definitely try the other ones. Plus, looks like I know where I will be celebrating my birthday with friends.

If ever you're in Trinoma, do try dining in Five Cows! It's a nice place to bond with your friends and family, plus the food and serving size is great. Definitely worth it, because a happy tummy = a happy Helen.

Love,
Helen
