Brazilian Wax Experience at Lay Bare

It's my second time to visit Lay Bare Waxing Salon for a long overdue waxing session. Actually, waxing is not a regular thing for me since I do DIY hair removal at home using the traditional methods such as plucking, trimming, and using depilatory creams. Plus, I get really shy. :> Anyway, I got a Free Bikini Wax GC from the last Blogapalooza event I attended, so I had to put it into good use!

I visited their SM North EDSA The Block branch, since it was the one closest to home, and it was also recommended by my friend since she is a satisfied client of this branch.

Outside the store, you can see the services offered by Lay Bare. Their prices are very reasonable and so affordable.

They also have Cool Packages. You get to save money when availing any of these combo deals. I'm liking Package 2!

Lay Bare is decorated with an Asian Fusion-inspired/Zen look for a relaxing feel. The cool, soothing colors, native furniture pieces, and artworks complete the look.

The private cubicles each had a clean and comfortable bed.

Lay Bare uses cold wax jelly made of natural ingredients, so it's friendly even to sensitive skin. While removing unwanted hair, the wax also exfoliates, whitens, and moisturizes the skin. It also removes dead skin cells. Good reasons to switch from hot wax and wax strips to cold wax jelly.

Since I had a free bikini wax GC with me, I asked if I could have it upgraded, and I availed the Brazilian wax instead. I prefer the latter since I want to feel all smooth and clean. Since waxing down there is a pain, then why not go all the way with it?

Before the procedure started, baby powder was applied to the area so there will be a barrier between the skin and the wax. My waxing attendant, Jen, was nice and very friendly. She made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure and we chatted the entire time. I was also relieved to see that she had gloves on. I don't know if it was just a glove or a pair of gloves since I was not really looking, unlike the other branch I have been to before (bare hands!). After waxing, Jen used tweezers to pluck out the few strands of stubborn hair. But one con, I felt that the waxing was not that thorough. She kind of missed a small spot. I think that was because I already looked in so much pain that she pitied me. Hehe. Next time, I'll make sure that nothing is left! :D

Lay Bare Soothing Cream helps reduce irritation and redness that may occur after waxing. The combination of Tea Tree Oil, Alapha Bisabolol, Aloe Vera, and Chamomile extracts helps soothe skin keeping it smooth and moisturized. Safe for all skin types. Dermatologically tested.

This is meant for use post-wax, when the pores are open and the skin is vulnerable to bacteria from sweat. It soothes the redness of the skin and prevents it from getting irritated. I used this after I took a bath and no stings despite the newly waxed skin.

So that was my 2nd Brazilian wax experience c/o Lay Bare Waxing Salon. :) Have you tried waxing in Lay Bare? How was it?

Love,
Helen

  7. Ouches! I go to LayBare for my UA hair removal and I really like how Laybare does it. Pero it depends on the staff eh. In one branch (ATC), I'm always satisfied with the service. In another, (I won't mention na) poor poor service! :|

  10. Hi @helen. Im Getting confuse about the brazillian wax and bikini waxing, gusto ko po kasi magpa-remove ng hair "down there" Have u tried it? If yes please tell me if is it ok? Nakakhiya ba?

    1. Hi! The difference is that in bikini, sa sides lang na hair yung nireremove. Sa brazilian, walang matitira ni isang strand. I personally prefer brazilian kasi mas malinis. About the nakakahiya part, let's just think that the ates who administer the procedure have seen tons of "down there" already, they've lost count. So yun. Haha. It's totally okay. Try it!

  11. Hi! I wanted to do Brazillian Waxing, but I'm too shy to do it, it does'nt matter po ba talaga how your down there looks to the Ate's who will do the waxing? Thanks!

    1. As long as it's clean, it won't matter. Just think, the Ates have seen hundreds of down theres before she sees yours. So it's really no big deal (for her). Be brave! ;)

    1. No male aestheticians. Sanay na naman sila so you don't have to be shy about it.
