The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate

The Body Shop has come up with a innovative eye concentrate (aka serum) inspired by Nutriganics Drops of Youth. Now, there's one for the eye area: The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who has the youngest looking eyes of them all?

About the product:
See life through younger-looking eyes. Our unique Drops of Youth™ Eye Concentrate, enriched with Edelweiss plant stem cells, instantly refreshes the eye contour, and smoothes out the appearance of lines, bags and fatigue for younger-looking eyes.

  • Smoothes the appearance of lines around the eyes
  • Appearance of eye bags seems reduced
  • Eyes appear less tired
  • Innovative cooling roller ball pump applicator
  • Partner with bestselling Drops of Youth™ Concentrate for a youth-enhancing boost
  • Edelweiss plant stem cells possess renowned skin renewal properties
  • Enriched with Community Fair Trade Babassu Oil

Ingredients:

Usage Instructions:

Unlike eye creams, this one comes in a convenient stick packaging, and unlike usual rollerballs, this one's spillproof.

You can control the amount you dispense by pumping the curve ever so slightly. (If you press it too hard, you end up with too much serum and the product will be wasted.)

The metal ball feels cool on the skin, even if you just leave it in room temperature. It gently massages and depuffs the eye area.

Swatches:

Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate has super subtle microshimmers that make your eye area appear brighter upon application. The texture is very light, and is easily absorbed by the skin. Because of its watery texture, it didn't cause my skin to form milia (or clogged pores around the eye area) even with 2 months of consecutive use. This one's a huge factor for me, since thicker or richer eye creams tend to have that adverse effect. It's easily absorbed by the skin, so you can use during the day (before you put on your makeup). This one's not oily/greasy, so your makeup won't slide off. At night, you can just use this alone, no need to top it off with a richer eye cream if you don't really need it. My skin did feel a bit firmer (but not tight), and my eye area felt so smooth to the touch. As for the eyebags lightening effect, I'd say it's very slight, since my eye area isn't really dark to begin with. But it does make me look less tired, so I'm really liking it. I'm getting one for my mom for when it goes on sale! :D

Price: P1,695.00
Available at The Body Shop stores nationwide

Early as now, I'm taking this extra step to care for the sensitive skin around my eyes. This one will help prevent droopy lids and fine lines - telltale signs of aging! What eye serum/cream are you using?

Helen

Halloween Trick or Treat with Made In Candy

Trick or treat! :3

Tomorrow is Halloween! My fondest memories as a kid were getting loads of candies during trick or treat! Today, kids and kids at heart will surely love Made In Candy!

If you happen to pass by a Made In Candy store, you'd be amazed on how they demonstrate candy-making in their candy kitchen - twirling, whirling, pulling, and molding, hot, gooey candy into exquisite bite-sized marvels.

The designs with fruits on it are pretty obvious on what it's flavor is, but I'm really fond of the cute animal designs. It's a mystery on how the candy will taste like.

Made In Candy Flavor List: apple, blueberry, cherry, cranberry, grape, green tea, kiwi, lemon, lime, lychee, mango, orange, passion fruit, peach, peppermint pineapple, raspberry, soursop, strawberry, and watermelon.

For Halloween, they've released spooky but equally yummy candies. My favorite is the one with green and brown stripes - it's choco mint! ♥

Favorite: Etude House No More Eau de Perfume

Etude House launched a super cute range of mini fragrances in time for Valentine's Day this year, but it was just recently that these were made available in the Philippines.

The Eau de Perfume range is comprised of 7 fragrances that represents the 7 special moments of love.

No More is described as a green floral scent; a delicate and sophisticated modern perfume by fresh citron and green leaves.

First impression was nostalgic. It reminded me of Angel's Breath cologne in terms of freshness, less the strong alcohol greeting.

The phrase No More actually evokes strong emotion. It sounds dreary and speaks of loss, but the scent is anything but that. This fragrance is fresh, delicate, soft - more like springtime, renewal, and hope. It's a beautiful daytime scent!

Don't underestimate its small size, because a little goes a long way with this Eau de Perfume. The scent lasts around 6 hours or more when you spray it on your clothes.

Price: P678.00 (for 20ml)
Available in all Etude House stores nationwide

Shakey's Justice League United Party

I'll share with you a secret: I LOVE going to children's parties. The kid-at-heart inside of me just can't outgrow it. I love seeing the kids play games, but my favorite part of it all would probably be all the junk party food.

On the next birthday bash of your kid, wouldn't it be exciting to have a superhero-themed playtime? Even my four year old niece, Daphne, wow-ed at the party theme (as I was writing this post). She got excited and said, "Superman!" "Shakey's!" "Balloons!" and "Superhero!" :D

Shakey’s is now offering the Justice League Unlimited party package, inclusive of signature dishes, activities, and even props that will make the celebration even more special. They even encourage guests to dress up for the party!

Even Wonder Woman was present that day!

The place was decorated so nicely. Look at all the sweets! :3

The kids enjoyed the games! It was fun to watch since they're all so competitive and active. Kids nowadays. :D

Prizes and loot bags for the kiddies!

The famous mascots of Shakey's gave a special dance number. I like Pizza Man...

...but I loved this Shakey's Giant Pizza even more.

How could anyone not love this? It's HUGE! :D

I could live on this for days.♥

As for the Shakey’s food packages on Justice League Unlimited, the platter of delights that will be served will surely make tummies happy with complete set meals of favorite menu items from Shakey’s, served buffet-style.

  • For Package A, guests can take pleasure in 1 piece chicken and rice, paired with ice cream and 12oz. iced tea.
  • For Package B, it’s a delectable plate of 1 piece chicken, spaghetti, garlic bread, ice cream, and 12 oz. iced tea.
  • Package C* is a scrumptious serving of 1 piece chicken, spaghetti, garlic bread, slice of pizza, 2 pieces of mojo, and 12 oz. iced tea.
  • For Package D, it’s a delicious plate of 1 piece chicken, spaghetti, 2 slices of pizza, 2 pieces of mojos, 12 oz. iced tea, and a bowl of creamy mushroom soup on the side.

Bring in the Good Times and celebrate Good Memories at Shakey's! Book your child’s party now and let their favorite superheroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the Justice League join for a super memorable celebration! :D

Farewell, lucky citrine!

I've been meaning to write this post for the longest time. I've been putting it off, telling myself that I'm too busy, hence no time to write. I've never been good in writing about my personal life, hence all you see here are reviews. Has anyone noticed?

Anyway, I'll share with you something really personal that happened to me this year.

After 5 years, I'm saying goodbye to lucky citrine.

This citrine bracelet was given to me by my Mom way back May 2009. She bought it (not for cheap) from a Chinese fortune teller. This was supposed to bring me luck, money, the works. I'm not really a superstitious person, but I accepted this gift and wore it for fun. I wouldn't call it a coincidence, but starting that same month, I kept on winning things - mostly from online contests and raffles. The prizes - big or small - mostly consisted of kikay stuff. I then thought, "Hey, this thing could be real." and the more I believed and put my faith in this lucky charm, the more I'd win. I put my trust in it so much that I didn't dare remove it for 5 years. I wore it even when I bathed, even when I slept, even when it didn't match my outfit. There was even an instance, I didn't wear it for a day, and then "bad luck" came to me almost instantly - my wallet got stolen inside the bus. What I had not realized is that I let this simple bracelet play god. I was no different from pagans who worshiped idols, because in my small way, I believed that these stones gave me blessings. (I even named my blog after it.)

Last year, the following verses from Ezekiel 13:18, 20, and 21 spoke to me about my belief:

18 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own.

20 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds.

21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

I was convicted and guilty, but I didn't listen. Because my faith in God was weak then, I still let evil take foothold on my spirit.

Early this year, I started regularly attending small group sessions and worship services in church. I realized that if I wanted to really grow as a Christian, I could not "serve two masters" or truly put my faith in God, and still believe in this object. Last June 8, 2014, I let go of lucky citrine. I removed it and gave it back to Mom. She was appalled, asking me what had happened. I simply told her, I didn't believe in it anymore, and that I didn't need it in my life. This might not be really significant for others, but for me it means a lot. After 5 years, I'm free. I've been a slave to luck, and now I'm set free.

Now, I've decided to put my trust in God only. At 25, it's not too late. It is never too late and no one is ever too old to believe in God. I am reminded that everything I have in my life right now is from Him. Every blessing, not just material ones, are all His. I am grateful. I am thankful. Everyday is a gift from God.

I come before You today
And there's just one thing that I want to say
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord

For all You've given to me
For all the blessings I can not see
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord

With a greatful heart
With a song of praise
With an outstreched arm
I will bless Your name

Thank You Lord
I just wanna thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
I just wanna thank You Lord
Thank You Lord

I no longer believe in luck, because nothing is ever a coincidence. God is omnipresent (everywhere), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipotent (all-powerful). He is always in control.

Instead of saying "Good luck!", I choose to say "God bless you!"

Love,
Helen

PS. No, I'm not saying goodbye to my blog, Lucky Citrine. Writing is my passion! Whereas, lucky citrine is simply the bracelet. My friend kidded that I must change my blog to Blessed Citrine, but let's just leave my blog name to that. :)

Lippie Love with Too Cool For School

What better way to start the week with some new lippie appreciation! :D

I've got with me 3 of the many bestsellers from Too Cool For School, a trendy and fun Korean makeup brand. They definitely win when it comes to packaging. Everything's just so cute and quirky! :3

Kiss Time Ice Beam Glass Lip Plumper (P435.00)
Lip gloss that beam with moisture and has dual jelly system that ensures vivid color expressions gives off an illusion of a lipstick.

I think this one's the cutest lip gloss packaging I've seen! It even has a red ribbon as handle. I'm not a huge fan of glosses, but for this cutie I'll make an exception. Plus, it's not a lip gloss; it's a lip plumper after all. (Excuses, excuses!)

Max in Pocket (P605.00)
Pocket-sized lip balm for always vital and moist lips. An essential item with a mirror in the pocket for easy makeup modification at any time.

And I said I don't like lip balms that came in pots...until I met Max who's now in my pocket. Oh, it comes with a mini ball chain, too.

Glam Rock Smoky Nudy Lip Color in Pale Beige (P715.00)
Soft nudie lips to show off dark smoky makeup. Natural nudie color with a skin tone: Moderate nudie natural beige with strong smoky makeup.

While I don't do dark, smoky eyes on a regular basis, the perfect shade of nude lippie is always nice to have at hand. I hope this pretty shade won't wash me out even if I don't pair it with dark eye makeup.

You can find Too Cool For School in the following locations:
  • SM Mall of Asia: Entertainment Mall Level 2
  • SM North EDSA: Main Building Level 2
  • SM BF Paranaque: Ground Floor Main Atrium
  • SM Mega Fashion Hall: Fashion Trade Hall
